Re: Hyundai Kona won't start just turns on but will not go on drive.

what does the LAUNCH see when you have the wiring disconnected?
Any codes from anything?

What did it see when you had the pugs connected?

Re: Hyundai Kona won't start just turns on but will not go on drive.

Your mileage might vary.

The (very) budget tools I tried didn't work for me so I purchased ScanDoc. It works great on the OBD port but does complain occasionally about "anti theft device detected".

Project Gus has had good results using OBDLink LX dongle and an android app. See https ...

I think this topology is for a LHD as my IGPM is on the right, not left as shown

Re: Hyundai Kona won't start just turns on but will not go on drive.

Can't remember where temp comes from but the battery percentage is from the BMS.
My car is RHD, if yours is LHD wiring layout is a bit different.

While working on getting access to the ETM I suggest you unplug the connectors between the wiring under the dash and the loom on the floor on BOTH the RH ...

You're on the right track with the VPN.

Yes A piller as per your picture.

The following photos show the wiring harnesses. You can just make out the block of connectors down by the door. The loom runs along beside the door and also branches across the car under the seats.

Here's a link to the Euro login site for Hyundai
https://service.hyundai-motor.com/euro5/jsp/tourguide.tiles?siteCd=H

If you login from a German location you'll pay tax, log in from any other EU country and there's no tax.

You can explore the site without logging in and it doesn't seem to mind ...

Re: Hyundai Kona won't start just turns on but will not go on drive.

Mine is a full electric extended range Kona. When I say fuel gauge I'm referring to the full/empty gauge in the bottom of the speedo.

The fuse box in your photos is called the IGPM (integrated gateway power module). As well as doing the supply for lots of body modules it is a CAN gateway between ...

Re: Hyundai Kona won't start just turns on but will not go on drive.

The following is based on my experience with a 2021 kona, so may not be exactly the same on the 2024.
At the base of the front A pillar on both sides are large connector blocks with several connectors.
This is the point where the engine loom, main harness, and floor harness all connect together.
I'd ...

Re: Hyundai Kona won't start just turns on but will not go on drive.

Hi Fuss,
You say the car has "damaged doors" can you provide more detail?
The P-CAN bus goes around the engine bay and inside the dash area but all so goes into the floor harness and down to the back of the car.

So depending on where the damage is it may be damaged further down the car.

That's massive, well done! Are you planning to actually install all the components like the IEB in the conversion, or are you still deciding about that part?

I'm not intending to do a complete "rebody" of a Kona but will probably use the IEB and steering column at least. I don't have a specific ...

After working my way through clearing power train DTCs the last one was a LIN error saying it couldn't talk to the battery.
Hardly surprising since the only thing left of the battery was the positive terminal. Everything else including the negative lead and sensor went west when the ...

My ScanDoc module has arrived and a quick test seems to show it's as good as the online demo.
No problems listing DTCs from BMS & VCU. Open/close contactors, read VIN etc.

FWIW if an airbag has deployed then you probably won't be able to clear the "crashed" signal via diagnostics.

Re: Hyundai Kona powertrain components (PCAN)

Magnificent work ProjectGus.

Looking through your connection list I see the note against the EPCU wake up signal. I wonder if this is associated with waking up the LDC to charge the 12V battery when the vehicle is turned off.

Re: Hyundai Kona powertrain components (PCAN)

Pump progress.
I discovered a red herring with the PSU I was using. When the pump does a rapid ramp up the current limit bites momentarily causing a voltage dip.

So keeping the current under control for some tests and using a fixed 20A supply for others I've managed to characterise the water pumps ...
