Re: Outlander PHEV A/C pump

I haven’t fully tested it tbh as I don’t have it connected to an ac system or have an adequate power supply to run it under normal load. I did have it running for some conciderable time at a low speed setting and varying the load by blocking the outlet I saw the current consumption vary but it almos...

projectgus wrote: Sun Oct 17, 2021 9:55 am Great work! That's awesome you have it running - is it gassed with refrigerant or spinning dry?
its kinda spinning dry but i did get it quite cheap and even cheaper when it arrived from the breakers in the post with no blanking plugs and bits of grit inside :?

Outlander PHEV A/C pump

Well after having an ac pump sitting around for ages meaning to log an outlander but never getting round to it some data in the outlander heater thread cracked it! most can logs i have found round the web have been missing many messages so thanks to the people in that thread. it appears to run quite...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

i just tried bare minimum can messages to control my ac pump and found all it needed is 0x285 and 0x185 sent at 10 ms think 185 is fine at much lower rates but it definatly wouldnt work properly with 285 at lower speeds. i also thinned out the 0x285 message and it appears the ac only needs the last ...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

i managed to get my ac pump running from this though the 285 message is needed for the aircon pump it changes the last bit of message 0x388 from the pump. I think 285 is like a master control message maybe signalling that the drive battery is connected. it is needed to use the charger units, the inv...

The one I’ve got I don’t have a battery pack but on a variable psu it maintains a constant output voltage of about 14.6 ish between 200 and about 420v

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter

I've not had time to mess with anything for a while started building a testing rig but not finished. I seem to remember that the inverter has the same voltage limits as the charger so about 200v low and 420v max. I do seem to remember a weird effect tho of it spinning the motor slowly for no apparen...

Re: Mitshubishi Outlander battery pack

Not entirely sure why but there appears to be some sort of self destruct in the cmu boards but it requires a 12v supply. I was messing sending different commands to them than the standard balance command and there is one that makes them discharge all cells regardless of their voltage. I tried with s...

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter

Not sure what Phil has done but the capacitor charges pretty quick with the precharge resistor so you could just time it. Or the inverter and charger outputs the battery bus voltage rapidly over can so that could work too. As for discharge there's a resistor permanently wired across the inverter cap...

The cmu id number can be changed I think I have managed it but I don't actually have a full pack to test my theory on just yet to see if they behave as they should with all 12 on the same bus. Waiting for a mate to get round to testing that out on his car. I don't see why an extra 2 cells wired corr...

Re: J1772 Charging

If the chargerate is low you could just use a resistor and a diode to activate the evse. Some don't even need a diode. J1772 is just a simple analogue specification fixed 1khz with a variable duty for the current identification and switching resistors to alter the voltage for different states. Or yo...

Re: Outlander CMU Simp BMS

I have the cmu and the balance wires all loose for testing they are connected to a small rc lipo. It's probably supposed to be -50 I just set it at that because it mached my thermometer. Simp bms uses a different formula: temp[CMU][0] = rxBuf[2] * 256 + rxBuf[3]; temp[CMU][1] = rxBuf[4] * 256 + rxBu...

Looks like bad news on the inverter and motor connectors after about 2 months on back order digikey have just cancelled the order stating that they are no longer being made but replaced by a different part number. The new part number is totally different :?

I havent actually run the simp bms code yet because i neither have a full pack or something suitable to run it off however i have been messing decoding the messages from the individual cmu boards. Re: Mitsubishi outlander charger and DC:DC

The front inverter and transmission actually has 2 motors with two fairly identical inverters. With the clutch engaged both motors could be used in parallel making a fairly decent power output. This is a very poor video of the "generator" motor spinning backwards. I did the majority of wo...

As previously stated, the connector housings are available from Digikey and Mouser, however the pins are only available in multiples of 10,000. How many of us want connectors for these we could do a lot of conversions with 10k pins ;) On a more serious note I bought some of the connectors a few mon...

Re: Mitsubishi outlander charger and DC:DC

I have connected the DCDC to a 220Vdc battery and put a 12V load on it to get some facts. 1. DCDC is capable of providing 30A of 13.6Vdc load. I tried to load it with my 1kW load and it folded to 11Vdc! Therefore i can safely state it it capable of some 500W of power. I thought this would be more.....

If anyone wanted a charger plug https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 3467142995 I bought one of these and it does fit. The inverter ones are proving slightly more tricky plus none of the scrappy seem willing to chop one off to sell!
