Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
https://i.postimg.cc/d1fmqSRF/encoder-swtich.jpg I switch the pins for encoder A & B and reset the encmode to A/B. It works the same as previously with encmode = single. I will keep it this way. However odd, I realized the motor is spinning opposite direction for both Forward and Reverse. I che...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
Finally got the firmware updated after a few attempt, works after I accidentally bump the voltage from 12.0V to 12.3V, which is closer to car battery voltage. What you're seeing is slip frequency. Set fslipmin=0 to get rid of it. the min value of my interface for fslipmin = 0.28... https://i.postimg...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
You need the sine.bin or sine.hex file (either one works). Not FOC. Well updating firmware was not successful. downloaded the latest firmware R5.11.R sine.bin and use the upload function on web interface. message indicate download complete, then status bar starts, but stuck at 57%: https://i.postim...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
If you turn the motor by hand, can you see the 'speed' and 'turns' values changing? If you plot 'angle' do you get a nice increasing graph? (It should go up to 360 and back to zero). These can all show you if the board is reading your encoder correctly. Isaac96, thanks for the overheat warning. My ...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
First LDU test, question on Regen. I am putting together a bench setup to test the LDU board with the mother and contactor / fuse box (following the wiring diagram on github). I have 6 LG Chem batteries but I am only using 2 in series (~120V) for the first test. With 12V input from a power supply se...

Re: Battery choices
Have a look at ZeroEV's build of a Porsche Boxster on youtube. They use 12 Tesla/Smart modules. 350V and 36KW at 250kg. I am researching my EV conversion with the LDU also, got the new board, trying to work out Battery option. My question is that the LDU on Model S is 350V, each Model-S battery mod...

Re: Tesla LDU Borad Versions
Thanks for the explanation. I guess people may change their mind or want the wifi version, and old boards comes into market as they upgrade, maybe?

Tesla LDU Borad Versions
Hello I am new to the board and I am starting my EV conversion with a Tesla Model S motor, will be installing in a C3 Corvette. Lots to learn. I missed the last call for to order of the board but I may have found some used boards on the web. I know the latest version (V?) has the build in Wifi, besi...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
[P.S.Mangelsdorf ][I think his answer was pretty clear.] Sometime sellers distinguish pre-order and general sale. Pre-order is almost guarantee you can get one, but general sale is subject to first come first serve and may end up waiting for another round. A waiting list could work too, just a sugge...
