Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
To inspect what happens when i connect charger to EVSE i have to add some parameters in VCU code. I declared current requested and value of PWM_signal uint8_t chargercurrent = 0; uint8_t PWM_signal = 0; I add PWM_signal reading to function for current requested void canRX_38A(const CAN_message_t &am...

Re: Driving mechanical speedo from CAN
I'm guessing the OP has a cable driven mechanical speedo rather than an electronic one? Sure! Then you need one DC motor and halfh bridge for 12V. AND you need to test how much RPM you need from the motor for full dial. I am thinking one simple DC motor https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32856061964.h...

Re: Driving mechanical speedo from CAN
Is it possible to take the rpm CAN message from a motor controller, feed that to some device and then have that device spit out a 0-5v signal? I want to use that output to control a little DC motor controller to turn a little motor connected to the speedometer cable in my truck. Why not use the spe...

I managed to go there via VPN and download instructions for lip seal replacement. Seems like there is no parts catalog. I will just have to take the part out and go to bearing store to find a match.

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
My Outlander gearbox developed a leak it seems. Every day i find a small drop under the car now. When i investigated lower end of the gearbox underneath the driveshaft level on the LH side is greasy all the time. As i wiped it dry and cleaned the residue it seems it leaks from LH driveshaft opening....

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
Beacause of difficulties charging using Tesla Gen2 charger, bulkiness and separate cooling circuit needed, i decided to implement two phase charging that i was thinking of in the beginning. I will use already established Outlander single phase charger with control from VCU. VCU is set to start prech...

Re: Tesla Charger Support thread gen2/gen3
I listened in to CP & PP with a little circuit and when finding a resistance there the system knew an EVSE was plugged in and vehicle mustn't drive away. That worked for me. However, it might be even easier to use the pins that Damien left there for us. The only reason I rolled my own circuit a...

Re: EV car conversion hardware
Folks. Anybody knows a good latching switch with a momentary button combo, preferably 19mm round? Doesn't need to be lockable. Trying to combine ignition switch and start button into one unit. The ignition switch needs to stay on whilst pressing the start button. Something like that? I have seen th...

Re: Volt Contactor Amp Draw
I have clarified this sentence in the wiki. Putting two contactors in series doesn't double their current capability and I'm sure it's not what arber meant to say. They need to be paralleled for double current capability https://openinverter.org/wiki/Panasonic_AEV14012_Contactor That is true. In my...

Thank you guys! I'm located in Finland. I red through the VDTÜV 764 leaflet and there stays really clear that box can be selfmade. There was also many other clarifications to R100. I also red the ECE R100 again but it seems to be written in complicated way. ECE R100 was written at UN. It was made f...

Re: Suitable battery packs for ECE R100
Have you read r100 in regards to battery boxes? For intense if the battery box is more than 30cm from the fwd/aft point crush testing is not required. So basically then it's very easy to meet. Interns of off the shelf, most OEM battery boxes will be crush tested just for completeness and transporta...

man just when I thought I knew nothing, you remind me that I know even less ! Well nice job with the video... It is all about sensor resolution. 0 to 4095 means your sensor can see in 12bit increments. 12bit is greater parts than 10bit. This means your full sensor resolution is divided into 4095 in...

Well there are some limits up to where it pays off to have a really good performance and good efficiency from devices. Vacuum servo just isnt that in my opinion! It was intended to be operated in harsh enviroment and still perform despite potential leaks... t is just not the airlock technology in sp...

I haven't got any experience with CAN FD. Though, communication works in general and I think the CAN matrix makes sense. I can read the motor RPM while rotating the shaft, read the correct HV that the MCU reports, and I also see the errors popping up when I remove the MCU-motor LV cabling. The only...

More and more i am convinced your motor uses CAN FD for communication instead of plain CAN bus. Try to see if you receive any reports on 0x105 telegram if you rotate the shaft with inverter started.

Re: Manual discharge of a 60v pack
It would be safer to use a electronic load, I have used a Tenma 72-13210 120V 300W to discharge batteries to a known voltage, it took quite a while at only 300W though. I think you could use that JK BMS with output and connect cell points so it will operate power transistors. Then connect a load li...

Re: Runing Tesla's inverter with ATX power supply on the bench
Is it necessary to assemble a pre-charging circuit before the inverter? Or can I just connect the wires and plug the power supply plug into the outlet? Precharge wiring contains DC contactor + DC relay + precharge resistor. As any HV assembly you need to test it in operation before you can rely on ...
