I would take a look at SendCutSend.com for those aluminum pieces. I use them for quite a bit of my custom fab stuff that I want to *not* look like I made it with pliers and a dull hacksaw.
If you have that many to make....automate it for sure.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
I have 3 tesla batteries hooked up properly to the LDU. 58V is what I'm reading. I set UDCMIN to 50 I set UDCSW to 50 Latest version of firmware When I turn on 12v power, Negative and precharge contactors close. (If I do the same without the tesla batteries hooked up, precharge opens after 5 seconds...

Re: Tesla Battery Boxes
Isaac....that was hilarious. I'm pretty sure it will be alright, and until the shop actually gets the engine bay cleared out, this is all theoretical, but I don't want to come at this without exploring all options. 16 Tesla cells is a bit of a challenge to keep as low and centered as possible. But f...

Tesla Battery Boxes
I'm designing my battery boxes, and I have seen the Tesla model s cells laid both horizontally as they come in the Tesla, and I have seen them standing on end. Does anyone have any real world experience with standing them on end, and if there is any impact at all from a cooling perspective, or packa...

Re: CAN Outputs - weird outputs
Aaah - 120 Ohm termination resistor missing - signals were reflecting straight back into the CAN-Rx line, I guess it thought there was a collision on the bus and did an immediate retry, repeated ad infinitum.. So...on termination, I'm using a terminated can hat on a Raspberry pi, going straight int...

Canbus Termination Question
Hi,
I looked through the wiki, but didn't see anything on this.
Is the canbus terminated on the inverter controller? I'm wondering if that might be the problem I am having reading any values from it.

That battery box looks legit, want to see more of that as you get it filled up and wired.

Alrighty then....$20 Amazon gift card to the first person who can accurately help me source these little buggers for use on my project.
This is driving my crazy, and I'm 90% sure these are available off the shelf somewhere.

Re: EV car conversion hardware
Hi, I'm not super happy with the stock HV cables for the LDU from Tesla, and am considering building my own bespoke cables, but there are some bit's I don't know how to source, or even what they are called. They are the connectors/Shielding terminators in the attached photos. Any help would be appre...

I'm considering making my own HV to HVJB cables for the Tesla LDU, but I have no idea where I can source the cable seals pictured here. Anyone have a clue what these are called or where to buy them?

Got the motor on the stand, swapped the board, plugged in the wiring harness, got precharge contactor behavior as it should be, logged in to wifi and saw the web page.

Re: Rolls Royce with a Tesla Drivetrain
So one of the things that I like about this project is I can build out and test my new drive train without needing to destroy my perfectly running car in the process. So for the past few weeks, I have been shopping, and assembling the stuff I would need to setup a solid test bench. Hat tip to Roadst...

Re: Rolls Royce with a Tesla Drivetrain
Have you a plan for the hydraulics? Brake and ride height system run off cam-driven pumps, and it’s a specific fluid, so can’t easily replicate. There’s a good overview here (https://www.rrsilvershadow.com/Emenu/hydr.htm) I think if you did put a full Tesla battery pack in the car, it might be the ...

Contactors for Precharge Circuit
I'm shopping for the bits I need for my Precharge circuit. I'll be using a Tesla Sport LDU, and putting together a battery pack of Tesla S cells of around 400(ish) volts. EV-West has these varieties of GV200 contactors: https://www.evwest.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=2_13&osCsid=60aajockjk60b1i7m...

Re: Asserting Drive - Neutral - Reverse signals
Please share your ideas or examples of how you've addressed this issue. I used a column shifter from a 1970's Rolls Royce in my VW Bus. Allows me to select 'drive' with three different regen settings (if I ever get around to modifying the firmware) 8-) 40466517080_a11ec76dd8_b.jpg I'm just starting...

Re: Rolls Royce with a Tesla Drivetrain
Sorry, I was unclear there. I didnt mean I was going to literally use the Tesla pack itself, but that I would be purchasing a full set of the 16 or so batteries that the Tesla comes with, and using them to build my own custom pack.
Apologies.

Re: Rolls Royce with a Tesla Drivetrain
OK, so I'm starting the shopping spree.... I have the Car, the LDU, and Damien's controller. I purchased the 23 pin 12v control harness, and the 4 wire plug/harness. I'm going to be using Tesla S batteries, full pack. Step one will be to build out my test bench, and therefore my precharge circuits e...
