Did you ever get an answer to this?
I have a sport LDU and was contemplating the 62kwh leaf pack since it seems like it would be much easier to use than the tesla modules, given that it requires less space to get 400V.
Any regrets?

How lame is a Tesla LDU without 400V?
Having disassembled an 85kwh pack I now have an appreciation for the volume and weight of (16) Model S battery modules, and have come to the conclusion I cant fit all 16 in an RX8.
I think I can fit 8 comfortably (6 up front, and 2 in the back where the gas tanks were), which equates to 200V.

For anyone interested, I found some great videos on the Tesla Model S battery pack, and the causes of the water ingress problem:

Well,.. the whole battery thing turned out to be a big emotional roller coaster for me.
10 of the modules had some small amounts of rust/corrosion on them and I had a big freak out worrying that the modules might spontaneously catch fire in the garage and take my house with them...

Re: Bought a bad 85kwh model s pack,. safe to store in garage?
I think reading posts like this one are curing me of any trace of interest in attempting to salvage or break down a module:
I have disassembled 5 modules now. My first attempt was mechanically, and didn't work. I accidentally nicked a cell with a Dremel. I was trying to remove 2 of the 6 series ...

Re: Bought a bad 85kwh model s pack,. safe to store in garage?
The rust is sketchy. A close-up would help.
What are you trying to do with these? If you're swapping out rusty cells pull them now.
Do they all look this bad?
So 6/16 seem to be okay (no rust or other oddities).
The other 10 have varying degrees of rust on the tops of about %10 to %30 of the ...

It looks like the white stuff is left over drywall from poking a hole through. It's odd that it looks to be on top of the battery cover. Is it dusty, greasy, silicone like?...
Yeah its weird, Its on top of the cover, but also seems to be inside the pack as well on that corner. I couldn't tell ...

Bought a bad 85kwh model s pack,. safe to store in garage?
The back story:
Well I rolled the dice and bought an 85kwh model S pack off facebook market place.
It was taken out of a car that threw a battery error of some sort, and then a local EV shop swapped it out for a newer 90kwh pack (or so I'm told anyways).
However, I found out after the money had ...

Re: Tesla LDU Inverter Removal and Relocation
One other interesting thing I noticed immediately after removing it.
I cant set it down! (Well not easily).
Since its designed to be bolted via the coolant plate, there are no safe flat surfaces to set it down.
So first order of business is going to be to 3d print an inverter stand that will let me ...

Re: Tesla LDU Inverter Removal and Relocation
Are there any alternate orientations you could mount the drive unit to avoid those suspension mounting points? Backwards, upside down, tilted? Doing so would require modifications to the oil pump but that is far less intensive work and a far more well traveled path.
That's probably a wise ...

Re: 2009 Mazda RX-8 + Tesla Sport LDU
What about the option you didnt consider yet...:
1. Mount the LDU in the front lengthwise as far inside the tunnel as possible
2. Connect the rear facing halfhshaft to Mazda driveshaft so that you can get the full Tesla speed from the motor that way
3. You fix the front facing halfshaft by some ...

Re: 2009 Mazda RX-8 + Tesla Sport LDU
I would not separate LDU inverter from motor. It was not designed for that. You may create undesirable effects EMI or even kill inverter in the long run.
Thanks, I hadn't considered that.
I will fully rule out Option F (installing it into the subframe in one piece) before I move forward with ...

Tesla LDU Inverter Removal and Relocation
Background:
Hi all, I am in the early stages of trying to convert a Mazda RX8 to use the Telsa LDU.
I have managed to get the LDU running on open inverter and am now staring long and hard at the rear subframe and strategizing how to squeeze the LDU into such a small space.

Re: LDU Coolant delete
There is a good thread on the facebook group "Tesla Swapped EVs" about this.
It sounds as though everyone is doing the coolant delete now rather than trying to get a new seal to actually seal.

Yep! swapping the encoder wires (A/B) did it.
I have uploaded a video here:

Thanks everyone!!! especially Damien and Johannes!!!
Next step,.. determining if it will actually fit in my rx8 (unlikely)

Re: Tesla LDU Bench Test: turns slowly, cogs, but has good Hall signal
I am having this exact phenomenon with my sport LDU. I just made my first attempt to spin it about an hour ago and ran into this.
The motion and speed on my LDU shaft looks identical to yours. moves very slowly and very jerky / pulsing.
I am running 2 car batteries (25v - same as you).
I am also ...
