Re: Tesla SDU repair. Over temp
Yes same inverters, the phase wires are about 40mm shorter on the Front drive unit, so you'll need to make some little busbars to be able to connect the phase wire to the motor. Wow, ok, that's convenient. And the fixings and bolt holes are all the same? So the casing can just swap too? What do you...

Re: Tesla SDU repair. Over temp
Hi, Most likely one on the igbt is dead, that's why the inverter shuts off. The SDU inverter is really hard to repair, and usually it'smore economical to get a front drive unit and take the inverter. Do they share the same inverter? I didn't know that. So maybe I could buys a model x/s front drive ...

Tesla SDU repair. Over temp
Hi, I have several Tesla small rear drive units with over temp damage to the inverters. They all had inadequate cooling so something in the inverter has melted each time. In the past, I have simply bought a new SDU from eBay and swapped everything over, but I’d like to see if it’s possible to repair...

Re: Shudder on Regen with Tesla Small Drive Unit
OK, so UDCnom is currently 0, but the nominal battery voltage is 350.4, so I should try setting it to that?
I'm due to finish the project this week so I don't want to mess with anything else at this stage.

Shudder on Regen with Tesla Small Drive Unit
Hi All, I have a strange, occasional problem with my Tesla SDU. I'm in final stages of tweaking and occasionally, after rapid acceleration, I get a shudder on regen as I decelerate. It's not huge, and makes no difference if I'm off pedal regen, or on brake pedal. It also makes no difference what val...

Re: Jumpy start, but smooth accel on SDU in VW T2
AMPMIN was 5 so I lowered it to 4
BOOST was 2900 so I oput that back to the 2200 default.
The Jump is a little better after that, but the acceleration now feels very sluggish

Jumpy start, but smooth accel on SDU in VW T2
Hi all, We have an SDU in a VW T2. We've used several of these with success using Zero EV's inverter settings. We're now using an Open inverter board so I'm copying a lot of settings from my previous Zero EV boards to this one. Everything is working great except setting off from 0RPM. At present, I ...

Re: Broken Software! Is there a master file?
OK, I got as far as replacing the line in the text file. Can I have a little more guidance on the steps "- open a console in the directory where platformio.ini resides" and "- type "pio run --target uploadfs"" I've opened console but I'm not sure where to go from there....

Re: Broken Software! Is there a master file?
I tried uploading that file and got the following error:
Update error: Bad Size Given
Does that give you any clues? Can I try something else?

Re: Broken Software! Is there a master file?
I'm afraid I can't remember, but I think the version was soldered. Order 1180 "Tesla™ SDU drop-in logic board (community edition) - Checkbox: Include 2 MLX91209 c.." I'll try what you've suggested Do you have the version with soldered ESP32 module? If so you can upload the attached file wi...

Re: Broken Software! Is there a master file?
Hi, Nearly there! I'm not a developer, so curl is very alien to me, I need a bit of spoon feeding. I can't find a way to get curl on my mac. When I try searching online, I get some terminal instructions, but nothing seems to work when I try it. This means the file system is not flashed. I think it i...

Re: Update via wifi fails
Hi I have a similar problem, and no tools, I've been doing all this over wifi. I have the same "Firmware" and "file system" update boxes. The inverter is currently attached to an SDU and installed in the vehicle. Can I do anything over wifi, or do I have to remove the board? You ...

Re: Broken Software! Is there a master file?
Thank you, Is it possible to do any of this over wifi? When IU log onto the IP address i see this... I wrote up a how-to document here based on my experience from this post . The process for flashing the STM32 and ESP32/ESP8266 modules should be the same or similar, but if you're trying to reload th...

Broken Software! Is there a master file?
Hi all, I have used Zero EV/Fellten SDUs in the past, and they suggested that I could use an open inverter board with their software. Unfortunately, I tried and instead, corrupted the software on the Open Inverter board. Now, when I connect to the board's wifi, I get the two lines asking to upload s...

Reverse settings on Tesla SDU
Hi All,
I'm using a Tesla Rear SDU and i cna' see any alternative settings for reverse speed? I would have expected forwards gear to have certain settings, and then similar settings for reverse. instead, both forwards and reverse are the same power, speed, regen etc.
Am I missing something?

MPH through CAN from tesla SDU to speedhut dials
Hi all, I'm wanting to send CAN messages, using the web interface, to some speedhut gauges to show MPH. I've been told I can use the 'speed' section of can messages but I don't know where to start. Why tyres are 185 65R15s (it's a vw camper). Please give answers for the 4 boxers on the web interface...

Cooling Fan control
Hi all, I’m trying to control a cooling fan with my Tesla SDU system. I’ve set the max temp to 75 but I’d like to turn a fan on over, say, 40 degrees. I’ve used Zero EV boards in the past, and they had a temp threshold that grounded a pin inside the sdu, which I used to ground a relay and switch on ...
