Re: cvt in electric car for racing purposes?
yeah it’s probably not worth all the extra issues it causes, but would be interesting to see if it pops up somewhere someday from an oem

yeah, rather safe than sorryandybpowell wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 10:43 am Anything not OEM spec is a modification but it's very unlikely that they would be able to tell the difference between standard and OEM type uprated suspension as long as it's not too obvious but coilovers are obvious

Re: Suspension changes require iva???
I'd assume any modification to the suspension from the stock setup would be considered a modification. It's up to the DVLA to decide what is considered a modification but I'd be surprised if they actually knew what the stock setup was anyway and so would likely only be going off of what you told th...

cvt in electric car for racing purposes?
This is just a completely random thought i just had, keep in mind i’m rather sleep deprived at this point in time so forgive me if this is rather stupid. BUT does this make any sense, the idea is that you use a combination of the throttle position and gear ratio to maximise torque for accel and decc...

Suspension changes require iva???
I’m a little confused (as it seems is everyone else) on the wording regarding whether or not a vehicle is qregged and requires an IVA I understand i should avoid cutting and welding like the plague, and then will be above 8 points after motor swap, new axles, and transmission swap. Alas where i’m lo...

Re: Smart roadster ev conversion
Cool, you do you! :) Just keep an eye on the weight, which is a big challenge for our German friend [GT]: " Yes, payload is a similarly big problem with the Smart, in addition to space. The car currently weighs 554kg. The maximum total payload is 1030kg (with a max of 465 at the front and 610 ...

I think you'd have a big challenge on your hands with the packaging and the Leaf stack is rather on the bulky side. some threads/builds: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2347 https://electricroadster.wordpress.com/ https://roadster-ev.blogspot.com/ https://www.goingelectric.de/forum/v...

Re: Nissan leaf stack dimensions?
I've come up with some approximate dimensions, incase anyone finds this usefull
Width: 53cm
Height: 82cm
Length: 50cm
Only approximate guestimates but useful for a basic 3d mockup

My plan is to use all nissan leaf components from a 2018 or newer nissan leaf using approx 30-35kwh of the 40 kwh pack to stay under 1030kg, I understand this is giving very little info but what are you guy's general opinion on this conversion. Predicted specs: ~1000kg (including driver) ~147hp stoc...

Re: Tyres for EVs?
We have tirerack here in the US. They do a lot of tire testing but their site sucks to search both in the site and in the Google for some reason. Their tests are surprisingly thorough and helpful if you haven't found them. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=121 There are a bu...

Re: Tyres for EVs?
Pondering without calculating, your grip is probably inversely correlated with your rolling resistance. Any improvement you make to one, sacrifices the other. At least, on the same tire. I'm using 13" rims on my little car, so, finding a modern tire is more a matter of yes/no than EV specific....

Re: Tyres for EVs?
Personally I just choose a tyre with a good fuel economy rating and a good price and then run true pressure higher than standard (this in the method vw use to get the impressive mpg figures on their blue motion range they use tyre pressures around 8 psi higher then the standard base model and then ...

DUNLOP 205/55R16 91V SPORT ALL SEASON for Peugeot + Low rolling resistance, good grip in wet - higher wear I will probably select something similar for Mazda as my winter tires are about gone... i think i’m likely going to use summer tyres rather than all season so i’ll keep the summer version of t...

Tyres for EVs?
As many of the people on here will be converting vehicles with smaller rims than the modern 19+ inches, what options for ev specific tyres have people considered/used? Personally for my use case a 17 inch rim would be preferable, and my main priority is minimal rolling resistance, but I'm still look...

Re: Nissan leaf battery active cooling
I would say if you plan on using fast charging and if you can do it then do it. It won't do no harm but could prolong the life of the battery. I was also thinking about air cooling but wasn't sure how to do it, need some kind of air filters for the dust etc? I guess you could use a standard car air...

Nissan leaf battery active cooling
Planning on using a 40kwh pack from a 2018 (or newer) leaf, do you guys think it's worth cooling the battery box?
Eg putting a fan on one end to blow cooler air though the box for pre fast charging? or cooling down when stuck in traffic in the summer?

It's the slight problem when you choose the car you want not just something that's randomly cheap.
