Re: Simp BMS

Hello Tom, I know, that the old Teensy board is unreachable, and so the SimpBMS is out of stock everywhere. I saw the EVS-BMS product, but do I understand right, that the software of these modules are not opensource anymore? So if I buy one, I can not modify it, just through sneding request to you? ...

Re: Slave BMS modules from a 2021 120Ah Battery pack use different CAN messages?

Hello Tom, Thank you very much for your reply. I am using a DUE, so I had to "port" your code. I have copied the whole sending function, with all test-cycles. And I immediately receive tons of reply frames, but bad IDs. When I changed the "asking" command to 0x10 instead of the 0...

Slave BMS modules from a 2021 120Ah Battery pack use different CAN messages?

Hello, I have a complete BMW i3 120Ah battery pack made in 2021, and I try to communicate with the slave modules, using the knowledge from Tom's code: https://github.com/Tom-evnut/BMWI3BMS . The "triggering" of the communication works, because I do receive response CAN frames. But the ID o...

Re: i3 SME / Safety Box using CAN?

Great news :) thank you very much!

I guess, these commands are not the same, as for the PHEV, right?
Can you give me some more info about them?

Thank you very much in advance.

i3 SME / Safety Box using CAN?

Hi,

Is it possible to command the SME / Safety Box of an i3, using CAN?
(Similar to the solution from Damien with the BMW PHEV SBox)

Does they use the same circuit in the boxes?

The connector on the i3 cable has 2x8 pins :)
Edit: 2x6pins has the white connector.

Thank you

Re: Orientation of Leaf cells

yes, the Leaf battery construction is not a success story :) 7 samurais decided to develop an EV battery without cooling. And if the battery doesn't need cooling, then why bother with temp sensors? There would be no problem, if they would been successfull. But they failed... At least 3 times. :) Lea...

Re: Orientation of Leaf cells

Some cells are stacked in the original pack as well. I think the force pressing them together with bolts is higher than the gravimetrical force when stacking them. True. But those cells are dying the most often. Of course it's not easy to decide, that this position or the accumulating heat is killi...

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question

Just a note: meanwhile I have found posts from Dala, and seen a info page on Thunderstruck.com, both talks about 425V as maximum.
However, it's a nice fact, that it can live with more too (raine's car)...

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question

I have 108S pack in my setup and has been fine for a year and 20.000+ km’s. It is full 9 module ID.3 pack. Running stock Leaf 110kW inverter with Resolve-EV and Simpbms. And max voltage is 450+ volts. Thank you very much So the inverter and the motor can handle over 410V. Great. Did you ever measur...

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question

I would say max voltage for your normal OEM inverter is 400Vdc or maybe 410Vdc. Any more and inverter will stop generating PWM. I would say OEM inverter has overvoltage protection which will protect it. DIY inverters usually would burn though... Then your ID based pack can use only 8 modules also, ...

Leaf inverter voltage limits question

Hello guys, I have read on the ZombieVerter wiki page, that the inverter needs minimum 180V to start. Does anybody know, what is the maximum voltage? Will I fry the inverter, if I use a PSA 50kWh pack, which has 108s config, instead of the 96s? (It has 18 modules, each 6s2p, so if I remove 2 modules...

PSA 50kWh battery pack reliabilty?

I was very happy, when read, that the communication with the slave BMS boards is possible. So I am really considering to buy a Corsa pack. What do you now about the reliabilty of this pack? What is the typical degradation of them? How risky is pack with 60k kms done? Thank you very much in advance, ...

I'm curious, what is amber's solution you mention? Arber=arber333 an "old fellow" here, he has already converted a 406 Coupe to electric. However, his electronics is just for the start, and later I might buy ZombieVerter, or choose other solution... That's not clear now. I need to decide ...
