what happened to this project?
I've had a few personal issues that have prevented progress.
It's still sitting in the project room just as I left it.
Hopefully I can get going on this project sometime soon.
I managed to snag a Mercedes C350e Battery for £100 last month described as Spares or Repairs with internal fault but the cells are OK and a £100 starting bid. :D
I've seen a lot of these for sale and thought a detailed tare down would help anyone thinking of getting involved with them ...
It is live now if anyone is interested. Normally they are available about a week or so after the event
I've probably fluffed up a load of facts and figures but who's to know.
I was going to be attending MCH2022 hacker camp in Holland this weekend but caught Covid instead.
There is a 30 min talk tonight called "How to charge your car the open source way with EVerest" I have no real idea what they will cover but thought I'd spread the news. 22:40 - 23:10 (Dutch time ...
The vinyl stickers turned out well.
A friend runs a business and although I didn't get much discount I got them delivered quickly. The font was tweaked a bit to get it to fit in a round sticker.
I'm presenting my motorbike project at EMF hacker camp this year which is being held on Jubilee weekend 3,4,5th June. The project is still very much unfinished but there's a lot to talk about and my plans for using reappropriated EV and hybrid parts. As such I'll be heavily mentioning Openinverter ...
well sure, if you're all into that precision stuff...
The rest is probably going to be a bit more of a lashup. But not as bad as my ratbike projects ;) I just wanted to be sure the shafts were in alignment so did the best can do in the home workshop. I've also seen engine / gearbox combos fail ...
I've got this pinout for the standalone IGBT you're got from https://www.diyelectriccar.com/threads/looking-for-connector-ima-inverter-pin-out.183690/ I've successfully controlled one from an arduino with direct connection from the arduino pin ...
This is how I aligned the motor and gearbox. The BMW K100 gearbox has a push rod hole through the main in[put shaft. On closer inspection this is a very accurately machined 10mm hole so a length of ground 10mm steel fits almost perfectly with no perceptible play. The motor output ...
A long needed update, The motor - gearbox adapter plate construction. Two bits of 10mm ally from the local scrap yard make up the 20mm gap needed between the original clutch bell housing and the electric motor. Picture heavy because getting the alignment was a tricky process that needs to be right ...
I've got a couple of IMA inverters I've put one in a mini moto and planning to use one on a small motorbike project with a hub motor wheel. The IMA inverters are great looking bits of kit. Especially the later one with built in current sensors and capacitors.
The BMW i3 range extender inverter appears to be rated for 24kW but is there any info on what it's actual capable of? Or what power transistors are in it etc to make an educated guess just in case they use the same power modules as the larger main inverters.
I've just acquired 6 SHAdMO Charge plugs from the local scrap yard that were in their 'interesting skip' which is usually full of broken lawnmowers and bicycles. They don't normally have this sort of stuff but I usually have a rummage in their interesting skip every now and again and today turned up ...
