Re: BMW GENERATION 5 packs (IX3 etc) - opening / reuse / reverse engineering
I think these sensors are NTC, probably 10k. They are used widely for temperature measurement in batteries. Regarding Infineon MCU, I've seen the same in Pegout e208 BMU. In that implementation, the BMS gives much information, including cell voltages. More info in this thread: https://openinverter.o...

Re: Peugeot E-Boxer NMC cells reuse modules.
Based on my observations, liquid cooling is not needed for this application. This battery can handle 10kW without problems, and the temperature increases by a few degrees. Here, I talk about 400V configuration, but with proper reconfiguration, this will be the same for an LV application. Regarding y...

The main chip is Panasonic AN84912UA 12584040, 6 times. What a wired BMS solution! I can't find any information about this chip. Panasonic transferred its semiconductor business to Nuvoton. Now, there are some BMS chips: https://www.nuvoton.com/products/battery-management/battery-monitoring-ics/aut...

Re: Dacia Spring 27 kw and Fronius Symo Gen 24
Do you have a pinout of the battery data connector? Without a schematic, finding proper pins won't be easy.
But I don't understand if this battery is standalone or in the car.

Re: Jaguar I-Pace battery BMS
A few weeks ago, I attempted to reconnect the whole battery: all_modules.jpg This enormous battery has many wires, and I only had a day to play with it, so reconnecting was incomplete. I've captured some logs and am sharing them. Some of the findings so far: * The central BMS probably requires a spe...

Re: BMW GENERATION 5 packs (IX3 etc) - opening / reuse / reverse engineering
Interesting BMS solution. I suspect that communication is some variant of the ISO-SPI protocol. It usually uses a two-wire connection, and I see a small PCB in the picture with two wires and an isolation transformer. This link probably goes to the central BMS. If you can give me the part number of t...

Re: Peugeot E-Boxer NMC cells reuse modules.
I guess that the board over the cell looks like this: bms1.jpg There are four wires between each module, but they are only communication (RX and TX pairs). The cells power the balance PCB. It's possible to reconnect all modules (18) to the central BMS and to get cell data. Some people try to do this...

Re: Peugeot E-Boxer NMC cells reuse modules.
Probably, those are the same modules used in Peugeot e-208 and other cars from the Stellantis group. The on-board BMS is described here: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2181. It's possible to reuse it, but it requires some specific hardware for communication (PCB with MAX17841B). I'm ...

Re: Zoe 52Kwh Battery Storage
I wanted to share the project I've been working on recently, to set up home battery storage using a Renault Zoe 52kwh pack from a scrapped car. Nice project! Do you have a pinout of the LV battery connector? I'm unsure whether it is the same as previous models (22 and 41kWh). The picture looks the ...

Re: Jaguar I-Pace battery BMS
A brief update: I've started experimenting with the primary BMS regarding cell balancing. To wake up the BMS, it needs a connection to an external CAN bus (V_CAN). There is no need to send specific data; connect a CAN adapter. Then, the BMS supplies power to secondary modules (CSC) via dedicated pin...

Re: Running Peugeot E208 modules with Battery-Emulator
The BatteryEmulator is a bridge between one BMS and another. Its not really intended to be capturing cell data and acting like a BMS in of itself? I agree with your opinion. We need some basic BMS functionality implemented in the BatteryEmulator. Some of them already exist, like a contactor and pre...

Running Peugeot E208 modules with Battery-Emulator
I'm starting this topic as a follow-up to a conversation with forum member @usus. We discussed the possibility of using CATL modules from Peugeot E208 (and other cars) with the Battery-Emulator project . This project gained popularity and now supports various EV batteries and hybrid inverters. I'm a...

Re: Jaguar I-Pace battery BMS
I've rechecked things and can confirm that the temperature is encoded with an offset of 40, as Tom91 suggested. We need to subtract this value to get the actual cell temperature. I think it is possible to use fewer modules, but the number must multiplе by 3, e.g., 27,30,33, etc. Each BMS circuit is ...

Jaguar I-Pace battery BMS
Here, I will describe my findings regarding the Jaguar I-Pace battery BMS. The goal is to reuse stock BMS for the ESS project. There is one master BMS and six secondary modules. Each secondary has two identical sections: BMS chip (76PL455ATQ) and MCU for communication. There is galvanic isolation be...

Re: Jaguar battery porn XXX
I agree that the best option is to restore the original wiring of the battery and then start analyzing. But now, I have started exploring one of the slave modules, and the results are good so far. It sends CAN data without any request, and I think the data contains the cell voltages and temperatures...

Re: Jaguar battery porn XXX
I'm in the same boat, having an i-pace battery (disassembled) for the ESS project. I want to reuse the BMS and start gathering information about it. What I found so far: * The configuration of the BMS is one master and six slave modules, and communication between them is CAN-based. * Each slave modu...

Re: Release: HVDC battery emulator project for ESS - Testers wanted
Hi Woleg, Nice project. I have experience connecting EV batteries to HV inverters and am interested in testing your solution. A few years ago, I reverse-engineered a CAN communication protocol for the HV Goodwe inverter (https://github.com/yasko-pv/gw-ev). Since then, I've been running a small PV sy...
