Re: Nissan Leaf BMS
A question, will the BMS report voltage for just 1 cell for testing purposes? It would be nice to have it setup spitting out CAN and then connect cells one by one and see the voltages show up on leaf spy.

Re: Nissan Leaf BMS
The BMS cannot limit anything, it only measures voltage and current and it will balance the cells 24/7 as long as it receives +12V on pin 5 (BAT) of the round connector, which is wired to pin 12 of the LB11 connector. Also, all 96 pairs of cells need to be plugged in obviously. The BMS will only co...

Re: Nissan Leaf BMS
Ok, so anyone got a TLDR; for how to use the leaf BMS from a 40kWh pack? One arrived today, I suspect I'm going to have to do some digging. I've read a lot so far but nothing super conclusive for my tired brain. Can I just hook up 12V, Gnd, CanH and CanL and get data via a Bluetooth dongle and leafs...

Re: [WIP] Mercedes 310E (310D campervan) - GS450H/GS300H
Thanks, I think for the leaf BMS it needs to be broken at cell 48 for reasons I don't understand but also to avoid 'popping'. The single/double battery box (with a solid corridor above the prop) might be a good idea actually. It would protect all the cabling, keep the number of input and output conn...

Re: [WIP] Mercedes 310E (310D campervan) - GS450H/GS300H
You need to figure out which are the supply voltage pins, e.g. with a 50 mA current limited 5V supply. When a third pins spits out around 2.5V you've nailed it. Is this likely applicable to both sensors or just the LEM hall effect one? From the data sheet the LEM one is only suitable for 300V so no...

Re: [WIP] Mercedes 310E (310D campervan) - GS450H/GS300H
On another note, current sensors. Are they easy to reverse engineer? I've got my hands on 3, one from the Lexus UX300E pack and another 2 from a random contactor setup I bought for cheap one of which is a low voltage LEM one. I don't know the parameters for any of them but it'd be nice if I could re...

Re: [WIP] Mercedes 310E (310D campervan) - GS450H/GS300H
Oh and in addition, whilst perusing the lexus UX300E wiring diagram I noticed the safety service disconnect in the pack doesn't break the pack in two and instead just breaks the positive or negative (I can't remember which), which I found surprising. Anyway, if I can manage to mount the disconnect I...

Re: [WIP] Mercedes 310E (310D campervan) - GS450H/GS300H
So, whilst waiting on the 40kWh leaf BMS to turn up (that may not work due to split battery boxes and needing to extend cell tap lengths....) I've finally committed to a battery box design. I've got for a mirrored pair either side of the prop shaft. To do this I can keep all the battery modules as t...

Re: [Driving] Freelander EV With Gen1 Leaf electrics and EVBMW VCU
good news that things are all running smoothly! Acouple of Qs, people always talk about EVs cant tow, which you're obviously proving wrong, how does it effect the range? Also, do you have the Leaf BMS working in your conversion yet? I'm looking to implement it in mine but would be interested to see ...

Re: [WIP] Mercedes 310E (310D campervan) - GS450H/GS300H
So having abandoned killed the Lexus BMS I'm looking at the leaf BMS. As I understand the 24kWh, 30kWh and 40kWh BMS use the same Comms but the 40kWh can be a little finicky with regards to its existing wiring.... So it's really good news that I picked up a 40kWh BMS and a bunch of associated cablin...

Re: [WIP] Mercedes 310E (310D campervan) - GS450H/GS300H
If the diodes fail, it means they are outside of their design operational window. Thus any other components on those sense lines will be hit hard by what ever voltage caused that failure. She if fubar, you never gotten it reverse engineered to a point where you understood what it was saying. So thi...

Re: Reverse engineering OEM Hardware
So... I'm cross posting this here as it might be a bit more widely read than my project thread.... I managed to blow up the BMS, or at least 7 diodes of the BMS. I'm looking to replace them and I've identified the parameters of the diodes with the help of a friend. The breakdown voltage is 8V and th...

So, I've been a bit quiet for a couple of reasons... Firstly, body work is slowly getting done. Secondly, I managed to blow up the BMS, or at least 7 diodes of the BMS. I'm looking to replace them and I've identified the parameters of the diodes with the help of a friend. The breakdown voltage is 8V...

Re: How to setup a PC to edit and compile a bin that can be uploaded to the VCU or Mini board
I'm no coder, and someone will be along shortly to correct me but I believe it's all c/c++. Arduino IDE or similar should be all you need to look at the binaries (I think). Otherwise, the code is completely uploaded by the web interface, no other software required. Also, please do not endanger yours...

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
For info, I only can get it working with Pin35 to GND. Tried Pin35 to Pin 47, Tried Pin35 to 3.3v. So for now, only remote access is possible. Wifican is not detectable when Pin 35 pulled HIGH.. My wifi network and password have to be Inside of the "wifi_SSID" and "wifi_password"...
