Re: Electric cars catch fire in Florida after flooding
The problem with EV fires is actually temperature. I sometimes wonder with my nonexistent chemistry experience if shooting the car with liquid nitrogen might help...? It would likely vaporize immediately but maybe cool it down as well....? I did see a "fire lance" that they drive as deep a...

Re: Technical acceptance (TÜV in Germany)
I think the idea would be great.
While watching a video of the legality of conversion by Classic Electric Cars I had to point out to a commenter that claimed it was not possible/legal in Germany that is IS legal if a bit bureaucratic and I suggested s/he come here.

Re: [DRIVING] VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]
Does the German TÜV care as long as everything is secure and not protruding too far down or outside the car?

Re: Low temps and our batteries
I am programming our cars to do a few heat cycles tonight as it is supposed to get to -11°C here. The Enyaq will be on a wall box and the Jeep Avenger will by on a "granny plug" set to maximum power (3.7 KW I think).
Probably overkill but even if I use 10 KW for each that is only 3€....

Re: Getting Old Analog gauges to work...
I will double check but am pretty sure all bi-metalic.
I have a Smith gauge repair manual and I don't remember seeing any magnets.
There is a voltage stabilizer on the back of the speedo so I will double check what it is for.

Getting Old Analog gauges to work...
I did a search and read about some people getting their old gauges to work. Please remember I am a not well versed in all things electric (yet) but from what I understood most were relying on CAN signals powering a potentiometer or a some form of pulse width modulation...? Please let me know is that...

My project is likely not far enough along for consideration. I doubt I will get started with electrification before Easter.
I do know of at least 2 completed projects that might be interesting though.
All in the Rhein-Neckar area...

Re: Please don't stone me ;-) CCS to Type 2 AC Adapter/Converter?
As someone who grew up in the Frankfurt Region I know exactly which company OP is talking about. They are quite known around this area for doing conversions that have 100% TÜV conformity (they partner with a specific inspector and have their "certified" system) and are relativly low cost ...

Nope.
I haven't got a clue... so if it is a non-starter because the power conversion is too complicated I will just have to plan more time each trip.

Re: Please don't stone me ;-) CCS to Type 2 AC Adapter/Converter?
Thanks for all the responses. One other reason they don't like doing CCS is also because they only install new items for guarantee and liability reasons and new CCS parts are expensive. I forget the exact number and voltages of the batteries they use but I think getting it up to 200 volts or higher ...

Awesome!
There is an electric Triumph Spitfire MKIV (same model more or less as yours) 10 KM from my house (near Hockenheimring in Germany).
It would be sooooo cool to have them meet up!
