Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
Hi Joromy, I have implemented the modification to allow the DC-DC CTRL output of my BMS to act as the IAA enable. I made the mods by cutting the original "aux ready" circuit of and near to the connector 1982 of the original contactor box and repurposed that to act as the DC-DC CTRL/IAA ena...

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
Joromy, one last pestering question. How did you figure out it was the IAA starting up before the BMS that burnt out your pre-charge resistor? I am mostly assuming my resistor blew up for the same reason but I want to consider other reasons that may have happened in case I can make other efforts to ...

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
Since I never found a reason to modify the TIM connectors it looks like we left the inverter in charge of the precharge relay.

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
Thanks joromy, What do you mean by "I would not use the contactor box/contactors, it should be possible since it have drivers for the contactors, but have not dug into this " ? This is how I was using the EMUS BMS to control "NEG BUS OPEN" "AUX Contactor Cntrl" and &quo...

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
Hi joromy, It's been a long time old friend. It's also exciting to see you have new fine-tuned parameters that I am anxious to try out. When I finally got around to opening my contactor box about a month ago I found a blown up pre-charge resistor. The issue you mentioned here https://openinverter.or...

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
The last set of parameters I tried based on Arber333's instructions were beginning to work fairly well before I had a precharge relay issue. I had boost at 7000, fweak at 210, fslipmin at 3, and flsipmax at 6.2. Freeway performance and uphill torque was noticeably better. I tried the last set of par...

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
I spent some hours tuning on level ground yesterday. With boost at 5000 (or higher), ampmin at 20, and fslip at 1.3 the truck starts, stops and cruises at low speeds smoothly while feathering the throttle slowly. However, at that boost level if I press the throttle quickly from stop or at slow speed...

arber333 thanks for all your input. I will take all that into consideration in today's driving tests.
The following images are the nameplates of my Siemans Ford motor. My traction battery voltage range is 250V to 330V.

Testing day notes for Tuesday 4/28/2020 On the previous test day Regen was causing BMS to shut down main contact while attempting to drive with full battery. For this test day Regen was disabled by setting Idcmin (maximum output current) from -5000 to 0. Adjusting Boost After a few hours of tuning a...

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
This is the config I use for testing the motor in "free wheel" mode. If you have it on the bench you may have to lower the Boost setting, so it don't jump. Remember that inverter PWM polarity must be neg. on the Ranger inverter!!!! "Actual" is the column that' is relevant for Ra...

Test parameters from the attached sheet were entered into the configurations though there were a few parameter options on the latest firmware version that were not listed on the sheet. We conducted the test mentioned in a prev...

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
Thanks. Looks like we already have the same version. We tried uploading the latest version 4.73 (sine.hex) using the browser interface from wifi module, file upload. We get confirmation that upload is complete but when we refresh the browser and power cycle the truck the browser interface still says...

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
We applied 300V at 10A and still have the same behavior of the truck opening the main relay when the brake pedal is depressed after ignition is and the gear selector is in drive. We are now going to try updating the firmware on the Joromy board.

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
Hi Johannes, Just wanted to add some details about our setup and the problem we're having: - We've modified the ranger's contact box and verified that the TIM can control all the relays properly. Our power supply is connected to the contactor box and we've tried up to 300V limited at up to 1.5A. The...

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread
Hi Johannes, Do you have an interest in chatting with us tmrw (today) preferably facetime? We have your board installed on two different trucks and are attempting to spin the motor using an external power supply 300v current limited at 1.5a. We have the new thermister installed and the 4.7k resister...

Re: How it's made (inverter board)
Hi Joromy, Sorry if this should be obvious but is there a browser interface or downloadable software (like IAR embedded ide) you use to access the board via the ST-link V2 STM32? Should I use PC or Linux? On a PC I have downloaded and installed IAR (I think I) have the USB driver for the ST link ins...

EMUS BMS in EV ranger with Joromy inverter board
USA distributor of EMUS BMS systems is electronicmotorsport.com based out of Alameda CA This is where you can order a kit: https://www.electricmotorsport.com/checkout/cart/configure/id/101512/ It should interface nicely with the new Joromy inverter board which I'm planning to do. Cell communication ...
