Re: HELP Please - need (paid) assistance Rev2 Inverter UK

Hi everyone, since my last post I've been going over how I do the scoping thing and I've discovered, to my shame, that I'd overlooked a basic matter of checking the ground connection And the x-ing factor. It seems my ground was not connected to where I thought it was and I was running on X10. The tr...

Re: HELP Please - need (paid) assistance Rev2 Inverter UK

Hi again everyone, and thanks BigPie for the recommendation. I booked time with Janosch - what a nice, helpful and knowledgeable chap. Unfortunately, we were unable to come up with a solution, this time. I have however, come up with what might be either another problem or the beginning of a solution...

HELP Please - need (paid) assistance Rev2 Inverter UK

Is there anyone who can offer paid help with my Rev2 kit Inverter - testing etc.,in UK? The inverter just does not want to run the motor. I have an Enova 90kw motor hooked up to my Rev2 kit. When I first built it, it ran the motor on the bench no trouble. The Motor is now mounted in the car and I pe...

Re: Inverter doesn't run motor

My abject apologies for not answering your posts. Family emergencies forced me to drop out of the loop for a while, then I forgot all about the project/forum for a bit.
I've just been sifting through my old posts to check where I was up to and I found this. Sorry again.

Have lost user interface through ESP8266 [SOLVED]

Hi Everyone, I cannot get to the User Interface Page. The Inverter shows up on my laptop WiFi list and I can connect. Trying to access the Interface page I get ... nothing. Using the wifi troubleshooter I get - "cannot find dns". On powering up this morning, I noted that the Esp8266 Green ...

Inverter doesn't run motor

Hi Everyone, I have a small problem with my Rev2 Inverter. 5 years ago, after building the kit, it would run the (Enova) motor ok on basic tests. The motor has been fitted in the car for a while now, but I cannot get it to run. Nothing obvious (to me) has changed. Has anyone got any Ideas?? The moto...

Ok I think I've found the answer. Stripped down inverter and checked everything again - One IGBT was faulty... Now replaced

Basic Question about IGBTs [SOLVED]

Hi Everyone, I have a really basic question about IGBTs and how it relates to our inverter kits. On my IGBTs, the data sheet shows the circuit diagram with one transistor above another. Is the top one, with Gate 2 and Emitter 2, connected to the gate driver board at Gtop and Etop? or....do I have mi...

Problem driving motor Rev2 kit

Hi Everyone, I'm posting this here as I think I'm starting over. Over 2 years ago my Rev2 kit was spinning the (Enova) motor ok on basic bench tests. I then put it aside to get on fitting/mounting the motor in my project car (2008 mercedes B200). 2 months ago I hooked up the inverter to the motor in...

OK thanks - that's a good argument - I consider myself corrected. Like many others, I'm on a very steep learning curve and I'm most grateful for any input. Thanks again..... Steve

Re: CHAdeMO Module ??

It strikes me that there is a system design problem with evse. Wouldn't it be sensible to limit current at the source, to avoid potential overloads ? - or is it just me :-). ..... Steve

Ah. now I understand. Thank you both for your answers . It seems that this module may not be the way to go. I thought it was too good to be true - otherwise everyone would want one :-) .......Steve

Re: CHAdeMO Module ??

Hi again, Just to clarify (please bear with me - I'm old and very new to this ). If my car identifies itself as being, say, 30kw capable, the evse will supply 11kw its max, at a 11kw unit or 22kw, its max, at a 22kw unit or 30kw at a 43kw unit ?? Or do I need to select the appropriate resistor (swit...

Re: CHAdeMO Module ??

Hi Mike, yes, it's 3ph + PE, which is fine for me as this is for "travelling charge" (eg motorways). Domestic charge is via the inverter/motor. The module has a phase-present check, also short-circuit, voltage in/out current in/out protection. It did seem to good to be true, as it's lighte...

CHAdeMO Module ??

Hi everyone, I have a chance of getting a 30kw CHAdeMO evse module at a good price. It has PFC, adjustable Voltage and Current outputs, CAN and over current/voltage protection etc. Can anybody see a good reason why this module can't be used as OBC (with a few safeguards or mods) ? It seems too good ...

Re: Ver 2 and Enova Motor

Hi Everyone, Just an update on this saga - Today, tested inverter output with bulbs, as Peter suggested - Lights worked !. Connected Enova motor and that worked too (10Hz) :-). Problem must have been the defective Opto-driver ic on Gtop on C driver board. Next job .... order batteries. Thanks to eve...

Re: Ver 2 and Enova Motor

Hi johu, I've looked again at the traces for the driver boards. Traces are similar for each board and this is what I get - 1st. 2 pics Driver Board Input at 5uS and 10uS both 2v/div. 2nd. 2 pics Driver Board Output Top/Bot Gate. From what you say, this is what I should have. I think I see deadtime i...

Re: Ver 2 and Enova Motor

Hi johu, thanks for your quick response. I'm still learning how to use this scope, so bear with me. Maybe I need to trigger differently?
I'll check a different timebase to give a better view. Thanks for your advice ..... Steve
