Re: [WIP] Daihatsu Hijet, Prius Gen2, Prius Gen3 transaxle
yeah you dont want to lock one diff output, you'll likely destroy the sun gears. Weld the diff centre instead. You may also find the gearing somewhat unsatisfactory as the output of the transaxle is already reduced, intended to run directly to the wheels and instead you'll reduce it again thru your ...

Re: Replacing the VW BMU aka implementing high level BMS functions
Yeah that is in "drive" mode, not sure if it would then apply different limits when charging vs regen. I've seen one log taken during a rapid charge (from someone elses car) where it was showing 80A on a warm battery, with the charger churning along at 37kw, but that felt like it was showi...

I'll try to remember to pull some data points from CarScanner for you. This is an older screenshot in my phone:
Hopefully you can cross reference these with your model and see that it lines up somewhat sensibly.

Re: [Driving] MG F - Outlander Rear motor and inverter.
Good to know, most cellphone GPS units are only 1hz polling so not the best for that sort of stuff.
I have a SkyRC GSM020 which has a high refresh rate GPS chip and uses GNSS for additional accuracy. Quite a nice little unit for £45ish.
I guess you could also try logging on the Zombieverter?

Re: [Driving] MG F - Outlander Rear motor and inverter.
Useful data, thanks. Comes a little way short of what i was hoping for given the "paper" specs. The factory figures for a 1.6 MGF are ~9 seconds to 60. The outlander motor on paper at least has more torque at 195nm vs 145nm for the 1.6L engine. Peak current of 225A at say 350v suggests a p...

Ah thats a bit annoying. I have heard though that you can just "turn up" and you'll usually get in (certainly to dragweek). I think that while they're full, they inevitably get no-shows from folks who have paid but for whatever reason arent ready in time. So there are usually spots availab...

I'm intrigued with the performance that this motor can provide, do you have any performance data? 0-60 time?

Re: [DRIVING] VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]
Two voltages stick out a bit. Highest is 3862 mV and lowest 3848 mV . so 14 mV Delta. will take a few more samples and watch these two carefully Given you have a 9th/spare module, might be prudent to swap the entire module containing the lowest cell at this stage? Then theres only one to keep an ey...

Re: Mercedes 310E (310D campervan) - GS450H/GS300H
Not sure what exactly your trying to achieve with the third motor... On both transmissions, MG2 is connected directly to the output shaft, and doesnt touch the PSD. MG2 to Output ratio is 1.9 for 450h and 3.3 for 300h The GS450h with locked engine shaft runs MG1 faster than MG2 (about 1.2x), thus MG...

Re: Mercedes T1 conversion [WIP]
Hard to be exact on range as it will vary wildly with driving conditions. I typically manage 3mi/kwh in my production EV, many other owners of the same car claim 3.5-4 or higher. Reports from the production Ford Transit EV suggest circa 2.5mi/kwh is possible. F150 Lightning reviews suggest around 2....

Thanks, That's good news. I'm not a million miles away on the rpm then. Any thoughts on the 4x4 setup with the gs450h. gs450h to G wagen transfer box to front and rear G wagen axles. I want to keep it basic. I guess the gs450h has more torque than the gs300h but has the external oil pump. I suppose...

Re: Mercedes TN/1 conversion
Thereabouts yea.
A 30" tyre is doing about 900rpm at 80mph. 4.3 diff gear means the prop is doing ~3850rpm and thus the motor is doing ~7300rpm after the 1.9:1 reduction.
Seems to fit fairly well on the motors curve, a factory GS450h would be doing around 6500rpm at 80 for instance.

Re: 2021 Lexus ES 300H Amperage Limit/Information Request
The Prius models will reportedly do around 100A. Camry is similar.
Google suggests the ES300h has a 120A fuse on the DC-DC converter, so in effect thats your limit.

Re: MEB motor and inverter (ID.3, ID.4, Eniaq, etc.)
It might be possible to swap the inverter logic board from the old one? That would get you the matching EEPROM and IMMO coding that the car is expecting. I dont know if theres any sort of resolver offset or other calibration that would need redone to match the new motor though.

Re: Tyres for EVs?
Many EV tyres get the lower rolling resistance by having less tread. A bit of a scam if you ask me, as the rolling resistance of a normal tyre tends to improve as the tread wears down. And ofcourse they're not charging you less money for it. Personally i pay no heed to "EV" marketing, and ...

Re: Accelerator pedal dead zone
It is an undefined point, it could happen at any speed/condition depending on what youve done with the throttle pedal. You could, for instance, apply 28% pedal and slowly accellerate to 30mph, and lift off the pedal and get zero regen. Then the next minute you apply 31% throttle (which will be an al...

Re: Accelerator pedal dead zone
You seem to be really overcomplicating this.... Catphish and toms approaches are clean and resemble what an OEM setup would do. Tracking historic throttle position and remapping the pedal on the fly seems like a recipe for issues. The pedal should not IMO randomly change its mapping at some undefine...

Being that Bosch ECU's powered a lot of these cars its not surprising to find a bosch sensor to do what y...

Re: Request for anyone who is currently bench testing a lexus CVT
They do this to modulate the ENGINE rpm. When its being used as a standalone motor the power split isnt connected to an engine, and thus either needs to be locked up or otherwise disabled. Either by locking up the PSD input shaft, or by welding up the PSD gears. MG2 is directly connected to the rear...

I agree that it's much like selling any modified car, which just means a very small pool of potential buyers. Its also a fact of modifying cars that you almost never get back what you put into it. Both me and my brother have ended up breaking a few of our modified ICE cars over the years, because t...
