Re: Driving Tesla Cybertruck: Everything You Need to Know!
I think this was the best video if you want to see the structure and parts. They're filming a lot of the stopped production line and beta builds (e.g. at 37 minutes). There's even a shot of how the exterior panels are attached in a crashed truck after 42 minutes. Just skip over the parts where they'...

The differential will almost certainly fail if you use it as a speed doubler by locking the other side. My bet is it won't last one full battery worth of distance. Your best hope is it will weld itself for you instead of exploding.

Re: Project: The 'In leiu of a carb rebuild' 1985 Honda GL1200 EV conversion
The Leaf motor and Prius inverter combo weighs probably like 75kg. If that's not an issue, go ahead. Other common motor options from cars aren't much lighter than that. There are less common options from electric motorcycles and very small cars (Twizy?) that could be more appropriate. As for inverte...

Re: 2008 Nissan Quest Van with Tesla SDU. [FINISHED]
The soldering result looks like: - you should have used more flux - or with the same amount of flux would have had to finish quicker in order not to evaporate all of it - adjusting to a lower temperature could have helped if there was margin to lower it, or if a higher temperature would have allowed...

Make sure to note that you need to pay VAT for items purchased from Norway. Unless you manage to file it as company expenses, of course.

Is it possible to modularize it so that it's possible to make a minimal build, but also possible to make a build that adds the VCU functions and contactor control capability as an extra layer but uses the exact same code for the actual inverter implementation as the minimal build? Aside from VCU fun...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
If you're looking for reservations for populated boards, I'd like one. The boards come from JLCPCB with everything but the QCA7005, the big connector and the RF transformer in place, right? I think I might be of help testing this as I have two running conversions and only one of them has CCS so far....

What I did for my GS450H gearbox was I went to a parts store and asked for ATF for a Prius. They sold me some kind of aftermarket "WS compatible" fluid of their own brand. I mixed it in with whatever was in the gearbox. I think it's gonna be fine for a long time. I would do the same for th...

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
I could be wrong, but my understanding is: The field weakening ability of the inverter diminishes to almost nothing as the battery voltage goes that low. The current needed for field weakening is the same regardless of the battery voltage and motor speed, and a certain amount of voltage is needed fo...

Re: Make grid tie inverter work off grid, $100 REWARD FOR SOLUTION
Better hope the grid tie inverter also reacts to AC voltage changes, because cheap offgrid inverters surely won't implement any "frequency droop". Random thought: If the grid tie inverter does react to voltage changes and the system still isn't stable, it could help to leave a length of wi...

I would assume it's down to resolver wiring or offset, or phase wiring. If absolutely necessary, it might be possible to rotate the resolver in the MGR slightly by using the center opening and the bolts behind the motor. Never tried that myself and I doubt it would help: https://youtu.be/KuR0cihFAvQ...

I've never seen a charger have its own relay into the main battery. It's always paralleled with the inverter and DC-DC and subject to the same precharge process. What OEMs are you talking about @arber333?

Re: Newb Asks: Do Two Battery Packs Need To Be Equal Distant?
Uhi22's example calculation is a good starting point. If you're using 50mm2 cables for a higher performance application you probably also have a pack with less internal resistance so the ratio remains something like that. Continuing from it, what happens is that when you cruise, you're taking about ...

Re: [WIP] Motör Circus Big Bus 1970 Scania B11063
How fast do you want to go? What's the fuel consumption at that speed? If it's diesel, multiply liters by 3 and you roughly get kWh. E.g. 20L / 100km = 60 kWh / 100 km, and if that's at 100km/h it means 60kW continuous power. Using any single passenger car motor is probably not a safe bet, they will...

I recommend doing what the OEMs do: Just fiddle with it all until it happens to work, and then tell everyone you're following the standard.

Re: L210/GS300H (or IS300H?) transmission max rpm
With a locked input shaft MG1 is going to spin much faster than MG2. With a locked input shaft, MG1 speed compared to the propeller shaft is almost 2x as much on the L210 compared to the L110, if I recall correcty. If you don't lock the input shaft you don't have this problem of course. Then your op...

Re: Hazel's GS450h build thread.
My GS450H powered Omega ran just fine with 9 Tesla modules before I added the rest of the 13 modules that I had already bought and planned to install. One reason for 13 was to get lots of range and DC fast charging speed; the other reason was to get the voltage up there where all DC fast chargers wi...

Re: Throttle Cable Adapter Best Practices?
One very cheap cable driven throttle sensor is 9643365680. It's used on French cars. I don't know the pinout, but it seems to be a 4 pin sensor so not too difficult to test and find out using a current limited power supply. I would be very surprised if it didn't provide simple analog signals when su...

Re: Throttle Cable Adapter Best Practices?
In the Previa, I reused the original throttle body with its sensor. If you do so, make sure you can achieve your preferred level of redundancy in the signals. The sensor in the Previa has the potentiometer output plus an idle switch, and I made it so that if the idle switch is active, throttle is he...

The winte...
