For Sale: 110kw Leaf Stack + Zombie + S-Box
Due my wife's decision that we're moving to Spain for a year, sadly I have had to put my project on hold hence conversion parts for sale. 2019 110 kw Leaf stack (motor, inverter, PDM with charge sockets/main HV cable, low voltage wiring harness) - includes aircon compressor which has been disconnect...

Re: [WIP] - 1989 Range Rover Classic + Nissan Leaf
Love the test battery pack! Always a good idea to leave the battery until last, get everything else in and then look for batteries. They are getting cheaper all the time. You can fit half a VW 55kWh pack in the fuel tank area on a RRC, potentially should be enough room in the front for the other ha...

First spin, yee ha! Leaf stack with zombie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMjujlLZF9M Big thanks to marty here, who I bought the bits off, and was on hand via whatsapp to answer my dumb noob questions. Next step is to deice the Range Rover. I didn't want to start dismantling the car until I'd got ...

Re: [WIP] - 1989 Range Rover Classic + Nissan Leaf
@EVSwap - I have reduced my range ambitions a lot based on what I've learnt since writing the first post! TBH in the first instance 30 miles or so will make this a useable vehicle for my needs - local runabout. When I was using it with the ICE I rarely if ever drove it more than a 20 mile round trip...

Re: 1989 Range Rover Classic + Nissan Leaf - [WIP]
Am resurrecting this thread as going to try and finally get this project started. Shortly after last posting I lost the storage and workshop space where the Range Rover was, and it's spent most of the time since sitting in a lean to shed outside my house. I've now decided it will never get done if I...

Re: [WIP] Homebuilt Locost 7 - from Motorcycle engine to Leaf power!
I think the Leaf inverter needs over 200V but don't quote me on that. A while ago I used multiple 12V batteries to power my Gen one Leaf inverter. I recall reading somewhere, wiki perhaps but cannot find it again, Leaf inverter needed 160v. Hence was surprised to see it spinning on 60v. Perhaps rep...

Re: [WIP] Homebuilt Locost 7 - from Motorcycle engine to Leaf power!
For testing I'm using about 60 volts (three cordless tool batteries). Your cordless tool batteries caught my eye as I'm looking for a power supply to bench test before I buy the battery pack. It's obviously worked well for you on the 80kw motor with the openinverter board. I have four 20v tool batt...

Re: 1989 Range Rover Classic + Nissan Leaf
Another local! Welcome So much scope to do something in a Rangey classic. Getting a complete battery and drivetrain should be easy enough through the likes of Kilcock Dismantlers (closest EV/Hybrid approved breakers to Wicklow I think) or EV Breakers up in Newry. I got the 24kWh pack for about €2k ...

Re: Skoda Octavia Estate 2001
I asked two classic insurers, Campion and First Ireland. Both quoted me after they had seen my engineers report after I had finished the ev conversion and it was re-registered as an ev through Wicklow county council. Thanks for that, will try Campion. First Ireland, who I have policy with currently...

Re: Skoda Octavia Estate 2001
Great to see you back at it! Yeah, insurance here in Ireland is still a bit unclear for ev conversions. Mine was relatively straightforward as it was over 25 years old and qualified for classic insurance for €250 - no more than 5k miles a year, not for work use, etc. I did call a few places to insu...

Suitably Qualified Individuals (SQIs) for sign off in Ireland
Hi, I realise I'll need an SQI to officially check and sign off on an EV conversion, can anyone here recommend one. Ideally Leinster area, but location doesn't really matter. Thanks!

Re: 1989 Range Rover Classic + Nissan Leaf
In discussing this project elsewhere somebody made the suggestion it might be helpful to chat, whilst still in the planning stage, to an SQI re the sign off on the final conversion. This does seem like a good idea, particularly as would like to check if the weight distribution will pass muster. I am...

Re: 1989 Range Rover Classic + Nissan Leaf
finding a salvaged leaf would be ideal. if you can pull the full drive stack (motor, inverter, pdm) along with the HV wiring, your mostly good to go. just a matter of coupling the motor to the gear box, and mounting the battery pack. zombieverter will control the full drive stack (motor, charger, d...

Re: 1989 Range Rover Classic + Nissan Leaf
Looking forward to following this, this will be cool 8-) Will it see any off road use and towing? May affect some choices I've seen your L322 thread, which piqued my interest, would love to do that! It won't be an off roader, in an ideal world I'd retain the HI-LO if possible, purely for heavy snow...

[WIP] - 1989 Range Rover Classic + Nissan Leaf
Greetings from Wicklow, Ireland. This is my 1989 Range Rover Classic currently with a blown 1980s BMTW 2.5l diesel engine: https://i.ibb.co/6JgZJ3Z/smart.jpg Engine is not worth repairing, so after extensive online rabbit holing for solutions I've decided to try and convert to electric. In my owners...
