Re: Interfacing: model 3 PCS <--> aem EV BMS-18 master

getting back into this, can damien's controller deal with being "told" to start charging without seeing the CP and PP pins? it looks like the aem bms really wants to be entirely in charge of charging, and basically just bark orders at the OBC to start and stop on a dime image.png the signa...

Re: Interfacing: model 3 PCS <--> aem EV BMS-18 master

i got a response back from an AEM tech in relation to a different question about balance charging, and his response seems relevant to this To start off, the VCU will only command the BMS-18 to balance cells while charging and when conditions defined by VCU BMS logic and user calibration parameters a...

3d printed housing for PCS controller with ampseal connector?

Damien mentioned commissioning a printed housing for the controller back in the main support thread but did anything ever come of that?

For others using the board, what did you use for housing?

Re: Possible board geometry issue with PCS v3 + the amp seal connector? (Misaligned mounting holes)

Ok yeah, just got the correct plug and it's the same issue I can correct for this by drilling the right side clip hole wider, but still this is a board design issue, I'm not sure the best place to let Damien know though? Just an email ? Make a comment on the GitHub? PXL_20230124_210833979.jpg PXL_20...

Re: Possible board geometry issue with PCS v3 + the amp seal connector? (Misaligned mounting holes)

:Yeah I discovered that only an hour later, gotta get the black connector now regardless then However that still leaves the mismatched holes on the board, unsure if I should just snap off the clip piece for the side that doesn't align and let solder hold it in Was a 3d printed housing for the ampsea...

Re: Possible board geometry issue with PCS v3 + the amp seal connector? (Misaligned mounting holes)

Correction but also maybe not? Double checked the pin and connector part numbers from the v3 folder on the GitHub https://github.com/damienmaguire/Tesla-Model-3-Charger/blob/master/Controller/V3/PCS_Controller_V3Pinout.pdf Looks like it's supposed to be 776163-1, not -5 HOWEVER I checked the data sh...

Possible board geometry issue with PCS v3 + the amp seal connector? (Misaligned mounting holes)

Interfacing: model 3 PCS <--> aem EV BMS-18 master

Starting a thread to ask some questions, I'll be updating this as things become clearer and hopefully have a full guide one day First question: The M3 PCS needs to see the CP and pp pins on the j1772 port, as well as of course see L1, L2, and PE (gnd) image.png However the bms-18 master also needs ...

Re: Tesla Model 3 Charger

Incoming dumb question that I didn't think would be appropriate for the support thread; Could this setup play nice with the aem vcu200? They like certain on board chargers but I wonder if the expected can IDs for specific values from the obc can be changed, so it's getting the same message. Not sure...

Re: Info on BMW hybrid battery packs?

Not sure if it's in here but, has anyone identified what the C rating on these batteries are? I'd be doing four parallel strings of 6 most likely, and want to put them being a model s performance rear drive unit, and I'm wondering if the batteries could handle that

More like many want it but few are even a tenth of the way qualified to do the dissection.
Again, spreading this raffle more widely would help a lot

Re: Tesla Model 3 drive unit crowdfunding.

interesting idea, you might get more traction if you post about it outside this forum though. I'd participate but i'm still unsure if i'm going to use a M3 motor in my project, and shipping a motor from ireland to the usa is going to be killer then again, even with shipping it'd be like $1000 usd, w...

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread

I wonder, could the same thing could be adapted for use with CCS chargers? Or is that a much steeper hill to climb than chademo
reason i ask is because, in the usa at least, chademo is sort of dying out, ccs is getting far more support from manufacturers

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread

I have a dumb question, coming over from the diyEV forums since the links seem to suggest to move over here... could control over these chargers allow some form of fast charging on a diy ev project? Like, stack four of these guys and get a cool 40kw my objective being the ability to use chademo stat...
