Re: BMW i3 LIM voltage measuring board

I'm thinking what are the other use cases for this board. What's the signal like? From another thread: i changed my circuit a little and now it's fine. The circuit is required to measure the voltage at the charging connector and to pass it on to the LIM https://openinverter.org/forum/download/file....

Re: BMW LIM based CCS2 Controller

On the subject of the contactors. I'm trying to understand. Does the LIM economise the HV contactors? From earlier in this thread : The Contactors are controlled by PWM, as jou can see at the OSZi, so it would be fine to use contactors without economizer, like the original Tesla Model 3. https://op...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

The .dbc has an anomaly for 0x272 (626). The signal FC_Contactor_Test is defined as big-endian (Motorola, etc.) when almost all the other signals in the .dbc are defined as little-endian (Intel, etc.): BO_ 626 LIMMsg272: 8 LIM SG_ FC_Contactor_State : 18|6@1+ (1,0) [0|24] "" Vector__XXX SG...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

I close the flap, switch on the ignition and lock the flap. pin 12 open = closed flap pin 12 GND = open flap. You can see the flap status on 272h bit 16. 0 = closed, 1 = open 4B-12 COV FBK when not grounded it indicates being open over canbus based on the DBC file on github. To confirm: are we agre...

Re: BMW LIM based CCS2 Controller

As it was determined around a week after the last post in this thread that the LIM's 4B-5 U_HV_DC requires a current proportional to the charge port's HVDC lines , and not a proportional voltage, did that trigger scrapping both jon volk's and muehlpower's voltage sense board projects? Or, is anybody...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

1B-13 is not on on the wiring info on ISTA, this only is referenced when you look at the Chademo version. Made changes on wiki to match this info. It seems my looking at the CHAdeMO pinouts led me to mess up the Wiki's charts. Thanks for that cleanup :) Got a cheap chinese lock actuator wired back ...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

Ugh, the Wiki didn't mention the charge port door lock (and sensor) at all . . . I've now updated its LIM "Connectors and Pinout" function chart to define the function of the connector @ 1B-13, based on member chrskly's chart . I've made the Wiki's chart now state that 1B-13 must be tied t...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

Pull up to 12V the charge door pin- you know if its 12V or if its with a resistance to 12v? I forget the charge port door logic but it is either tied to ground or floating if memory serves. Actually yeah on the i3 its just a on/off switch on the cp door. If we're discussing the charge port's lock (...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

Tom, I don't understand what you're asking. I think you asked a question: Reading the documentation on the wiki there is reference to a wake up line that the LIM controls, however in the wiring info on the wiki I cannot find it. Has anyone looked into this wake up functionality if it is a canbus bas...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

I would want to look at sorting is the ability of the I3 LIM to wake up the rest of the vehicle. Reading the documentation on the wiki there is reference to a wake up line that the LIM controls, however in the wiring info on the wiki I cannot find it. IDK, to me it looks as if terminal 30F is conne...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

Thanks for that, I appreciate the time it took to write, and "stating the obvious" is always a good idea as a preface, because here one cannot assume the technical level of your audience. For example, though I've driven an EV for five years, and we also own a 3-year-old Tesla in addition t...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

Are you referring to the vehicle side, or the EVSE side? On the EVSE side, I read that user glim1000 (1) (2) mechanically removed the cable lock but left it electrically connected to the vehicle. DCFC must self-test to see if the locking pin is enabled. I did not take the unit apart/remove the locki...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

I have a question about charge port locking of CCS1 vs CCS2. The Wiki states : " Only important for Type 2 (3-phase) charge ports. ", which to me implies that the charge port locking feature is not applicable to Type 1 (J1772) and/or CCS (1-phase) ports. Via eBay , I recently purchased a B...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

I thank you for your try helping, but I still dont understand if I need a BMS and what would be the required It's hard to think of a scenario where you would be using CCS to charge a battery pack, and not need a BMS involved. The BMS monitors the cells' individual or collective voltages and tempera...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

Sorry, SBC = Single Board Computer, ie Arduino, RPi, BeagleBone, STM32 Nucleo-64, etc. A general-purpose processor + supporting hardware and interfaces. The ZombieVerter is nice and flexible and general-purpose too (within its mission to deal only with EV subsystems) but is kind of overkill for what...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller

- some master programmable VCU to hookup the LIM to the BMS and Feed the LIM with the charge settings. In terms of VCUs, are our choices limited to the two on Damien's site only? I have in mind to add CCS to a OEM/production EV from years ago (RAV4 EV, 2nd Gen), and while it's a Toyota, the CAN lan...

Re: Forum configuration: can't set user's Location, etc.

Indeed, now that I have one post approved under my belt, so to speak, the "Edit Profile" menu item is now visible/accessible.

I kind of suspected something like that would happen, but there's no way of knowing beforehand. Thanks.

Forum configuration: can't set user's Location, etc.

This will be my first post on this site. I've run my own phpBB board since 2007, so I know my way around them. When I join a new forum, I set up my email preferences, my avatar, and my signature. But, I noticed others on this forum have their Location (country, city, etc.) set, and when I went to se...
