Re: Toyota RAV4 EV (2012-2014): Add CCS DCFC: Inlet location

The Charge Port Door lock cable tab: Charge_Port_RAV4_EV_22b.jpg If I had one sage bit of advice here, it would be to try to keep your hand on the lock cable after turning it 90° and releasing it from the black retainer. I let mine get away from me, and it was ten minutes with a bent coathanger to p...

Re: Toyota RAV4 EV (2012-2014): Add CCS DCFC: Inlet location

I removed the OEM J1772 charge inlet and took a good look at the layout of the Charge Port harness. The general run of this harness is: J1772 inlet at the LR Inside the LR wheel well, across the top and down the front. The cables are in a hard-plastic carrier here, and covered by a thin mud protecto...

NACS Inlet Port options

For a while there was considerable effort being made to adapt the Model 3 inlet port and controller for DCFC: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1040 The landscape has changed, we have other CCS add-on options, but now in the US NACS is ascendant. If I wanted to install a NACS inlet, for...

I'd like to contribute my own thoughts to the FAQ as there's a few things that I struggled with that may help others. Do I need special access? Where is the best spot... On here or github? Perhaps the Wiki? https://openinverter.org/wiki/Tesla_Model_S/X_Large_Drive_Unit_(%22LDU%22)#Encoder_Issues To...

Listen for about 20 seconds, after Alex describes rusted-in-place rotors, he says "push the rotor out" whilst pointing to the press.

I ended up buying from EV Europe:

I've got 8m/26'/USD$313 that arrived on my doorstep in the US, seven days after ordering.

Re: Toyota RAV4 EV (2012-2014): Add CCS DCFC: HVJB

Tesla used proprietary EMC cable glands -- which are not available separately from the cab...

Re: Toyota RAV4 EV (2012-2014): Add CCS DCFC: OBC mods

In order to eventually make an OBC golem, I need to know more about the OBC. The RAV4 EV's OBC is physically identical to the early Tesla Model S' OBC; only the firmware differs. A few months ago I bought an early Model S GEN1 OBC, and started documenting its physical properties, leading to an OI Wi...

Re: Toyota RAV4 EV (2012-2014): Add CCS DCFC: Charge Port

The first CCS part I'd bought was a BMW i3 charge port (CCS1), but the RAV4 EV uses the Tesla Model S GEN1 OBC, which can draw 40A @ 240V, a feature I use frequently at the three EVSEs I have installed at various locations; the i3, like many older EVs, can only draw 32A, so that port was not usable ...

[WIP]Toyota RAV4 EV (2012-2014): Add CCS DCFC

I've got posts about this all over the place, so it's time to formally put it all in one thread, where I can find and refer to it reasonably easily. My tracking spreadsheet on this project has its first entry on 19May2022, so I'm at 15 months in. I bought a 2014 RAV4 EV ( 2nd Gen ) off-lease in 2017...

Re: Quality Orange Split Wire Loom Source?

I bought some split-mesh braid last week, received it a couple of days agao, and it looks good and is a lot more flexible than I'd feared, but I haven't tried to install it yet. I'm considering using it in conjunction with some orange plastic zip ties at the sharper bends -- not that 16.8mm OD cable...

They're pressing on something. IDK what, but it stands to reason that pushing on the pinion shaft/gear won't work.

Re: Telsa LDU HV cables' OD [SOLVED]

One issue I see -- which is also an issue with other CCS inlet ports -- is that the rated current for the AC pins is only 32A; as you know, we can draw up to almost 40A. I just purchased a 2021 Porsche Taycan right charge inlet port via eBay; it is CCS1 and also AC 48A capable (base models charge(s...

Yes, Lars has done a good job at collecting the bits in one place to order.

I don't think TechStream is going to get you there, but I welcome any effort to make progress.

I have an i3 LIM for sale, with connectors and matching contactors, since I decided to go QCA700x.
