Re: MLBEvo DBC & LIN Files

Not sure I got it right. You moved the Instruments using vcds and recorded the CAN Düring this? And then play back this recording? This does not help. The vcds uses diagnostic commands (uds on isotp), but you want plain CAN in the car.

Re: QCA7000 Foccci+Clara User thread

Ok, at least the results are stable, that's a good basis for finding the issue. There are two indications, that something with the wiring is wrong: - The CP PWM is reported with 0%. This shows that either the CP is not wired to the charger, or the charger does not provide the PWM at all. - The cable...

Re: First-Time Config of FOCCI And CCS1 vehicle charging

The 0% CP duty is clearly pointing to an error, either of the charger, or of the wiring. First point is to take a multimeter, and measure on the unconnected charger whether there are 12V between CP and PE. Second, check whether the CP of the inlet is connected to the CP pin of foccci. Third, with re...

Edit 4: Tesla ... also OK now Do you say thay that you convinced the Model Y to close the contactors, without providing physical voltage during the PreCharge? We tried, but without success, using the latest pyPLC and two different Model Y, as I understood one quite old and a newer. They stop the se...

Re: Drawing power out of CCS port (V2x, inverse charging, bidirectional CCS)

Physically this exacty is the case. You can charge and discharge. The only blocker may be the software of the car, which could have a supervision that stops the thing. Some results are mentioned above in the thread, the MG is showing how great it could work.

Good point. Not sure if somebody tested what happens if you send it each 250µs. But I think everything between 5ms and 500ms cycle time is fine.

Re: First-Time Config of FOCCI And CCS1 vehicle charging

Looks like some good progress. Next steps from my point of view: 1. Find a working serial-to-usb, to get a log file. This would help a lot to understand what is going on. 2. I propose to by a cheap STlink adapter for flashing new software. Flashing via the web interface works often, but sometimes cr...

Re: Drawing power out of CCS port (V2x, inverse charging, bidirectional CCS)

Exactly. If the hybrid solar inverter has a battery voltage range of lets say 200 to 450V, it perfectly matches to a car battery. Somebody uses this here: https://www.goingelectric.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2193381#p2193381 He uses an inverter which allows to set the battery type "lead acid"...

Improved the Clara, that it shows also the CP PWM duty cycle in the log. https://github.com/uhi22/ccs32clara/actions/runs/8796526599 At some charger types it is necessary to put the plug back to the plug holder to terminate the charging session and to start a fresh one. For these, just unplugging fr...

The theory says, that it is not a good idea to charge cells which went below a certain voltage thresholds. Because at low voltage, chemical things happen which cannot be reverted (https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/219222/is-draining-a-li-ion-to-2-5-v-harmful-to-a-li-ion-cell) So if the...

Does it make a difference in consumption to run in the one motor in neutral? I understand, some cars have a mechanical clutch to decouple the motor if not used.

No. A blocker on the PC would not prevent the esp from connecting your router. Are you sure your router provides a 2.4GHz wifi, not only 5GHz? Is the router near? Are you sure the wifi name and password is the same as the router expects?

Tested two Tesla Model Y - thanks to the great people in the Linux day in Augsburg! They stop at the PreCharge. Most likely it expects a physical voltage on the port during the PreCharge. Log is here: https://github.com/uhi22/pyPLC/blob/master/results/2024-04-20_ModelY_pyPLC_stop_in_precharge.pcapng...

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?

This is normal. With pin 37 high, the device is a "Station", it does not publish an own wifi network. It will try to connect your home network, so it does not appear in a wifi list. The only relevant thing is that you provided the right name and password in the credentials file.

Re: First-Time Config of FOCCI And CCS1 vehicle charging

The enable should be 1 from the beginning. Sending enable=0 would terminate the process, so you should always send 1.

In step 8, no ramp down to zero is necessary. Just send enable=0 or press the button on Foccci for 1s. The (fast) rampdown will be done by the charger.

Press the reset button on the board. You should see some logging in the serial monitor. wifiMode1 .... WifiMode is 's...

Re: Charging one battery from another as an alternative to parallel packs.

As I understand, the OBCs are step-up-converters, they are able to make a power-factor-correction, following the sinus input voltage of e.g. 0 to 330V and boost it to e.g. 400V battery voltage. Not sure, because our nominal voltage of 230V AC are ~320V peak voltage, and my empty battery has 300V, so...

For debugging your setup, you could add the data base file (dbc) of the "virtual" debug messages into SavvyCAN. This file is here: https://github.com/uhi22/wifican/blob/main/wifican_development.dbc This allows you to see how long the wifican is running (wificanAliveCounter is counting up),...

Re: Charging one battery from another as an alternative to parallel packs.

What about using two buck-boost converters back-to-back, to allow both batteries have any voltage, and the software can select in which direction the current flows. Would allow to use any pack as "range extender", no matter of the nominal voltage or capacity or state-of-charge.
