Re: BYD Atto3 as a Donor Vehicle
For now, I wanted to understand its construction at a basic level and get to the point where the HV system, which was completely disabled due to the collision, would start. The car is already running, so maybe I will start logging this week, but I was not prepared for the fact that I would have to l...

Re: BYD Atto3 as a Donor Vehicle
I have been studying the BYD Atto 3 for some time. Brutally modern development, not a Chinese joke. If you are not familiar with CAN buses, don't bother: there are dozens of CAN buses, because instead of a lot of electronics, there are only three "domain controllers" in it: the right, the ...

Re: XC90 OBC
I know how to fix it, I've already fixed a dozen of them; maybe even more. However, I haven't been able to start it on the desktop yet, it doesn't respond to any LOG. But it is almost certain that it will not even start without the standard Control Pilot (CP) signal. (It was manufactured here in Hun...

Re: Volvo V60 battery pack
I have already repaired dozens of batteries, so I can safely say: if the Volvo BMS sees the battery as bad, then it really is bad. You can clone the EEPROM content from a good battery to a bad one, but you won't get very far with it. The proven solution is to measure the capacity of all 10 modules o...

Re: Hyundai/Kia Batteries
Hi folks. I came across some kia 64kW modules. They have neat cell wires comming from the module sides. There is a circuit on the sides and i am wondering if those wires are fused? I would like to use this modules with my active BMS and it balances at 1A. Too much? The cell terminals are protected ...

I have been doing what you just described here for five years. Will you have a job with it, though I don't know if it's any use? I have already written a lot about this topic to my clients, but unfortunately in Hungarian. I'm copying a material made by Google translate, so maybe the translation is b...

Re: Volvo V60 battery pack
I repair Volvo V60 PHEVs, and unfortunately recently I come across more and more batteries with cell defects or significantly degraded batteries. Unfortunately, I often see working batteries at unrealistically high prices on the Internet. Does anyone have any tips on where to get defective batteries...

Re: I bought a BMW 530e onboard battery charger - now what?
The elongated version was produced here in Hungary, and it was also included in the Volvo XC90, redesigned and with different software. I know how to fix it, but not how to program it yet, even though I tried it for a while.

Re: Volvo V60 battery pack
I just wrote my own code to make it work. For balancing, the 0x1C control packet must be sent maximum every 2000 msec. The authorization signal is the 0x22 packet, which must be sent every 450 msec at most. But the balancing itself is started by the query packet 0x17, but in pulses, so it is worth i...

I3 EME Internal Communication
If you want to listen to EME’s internal communications with the DC/DC converter and on-board charger, prepare pizzas and lots of cola for several days. - Works with 16-bit SPI transmission with 500 kHz clock - Transmits 80 words in a packet (i.e. 1280 bits) - Alternately sends a packet to the DC/DC ...

Re: ID.3 and other MEB battery packs in conversions
They carry the end cells in duplicate because the BMS receives its supply voltage from one and measures the cell with the other. Thus, the jumps in the current consumption of the BMS do not interfere with the measurement. This solution is called the “Kelvin Connection”. https://www.voltech.com/suppo...

Re: Ranger rover 14.7kwh pack bms
The Samsung SDI BMU panel has the MAX17841 driver chip, while the Jaguar / Range Rover battery has the MAX17823B BMS chip. In principle, they can talk to each other - but of course the factory software is not suitable for this.

For the MAX17845, both the pinout and the basic protocol are the same as the MAX17823B, but the self-diagnostic is different.

Re: 64kwh Kona battery
The three types of battery modules have a total of eight (!) different connectors. Their illogical connection is a nightmare. The MAX17845 chip built into CMUs is top secret, with no datasheet, not a programming manual. And it uses an isoSPI bus anyway, not a CAN bus.

The length of the 10S3P and 15S2P modules is 480 mm (+15 mm mounting lugs), while the length of the 9S3P modules is 430 mm (+15 mm here as well). The modules are 105 mm high (+10 mm extra) and 360 mm wide. There is a 39 kWh "Economy" version from Hyundai Kona Electric, which contains 180 c...

Re: 800V Hyundai Ioniq 5 Battery
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm guessing: - 6S2P bonded cells - Cell connections at both ends - One piece of BMU with part number 375A0-xxxx with MAX17841 based isoSPI bus - 8 CMUs with part number 375A1-xxxx, each with 2-2 MAX17845 chips - One MAX17845 chip handles 2 modules (12 cells), one CMU can ...
