Re: [WIP] BMW Z3

Yes, understood, no load and smoother control that I have is not easy, as we are torque requesting , your twitchy control, would be harder.
I wonder how difficult to progm to go temporarily to speed control, I.e. using rpm as feedback?
Like a marine set up could have. just thinking out loud.

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3

Re the 300h usage, yes you have shown it has great performance promise.. Thanks for the drive you have put in, following a last years statement that seems someone needed to do it...😀 If you are able to measure any rpm to Amps drawn with wheels of the ground, would still be interested for comparison ...

Re: State of Rex hacking? Contemplating putting a Leaf motor in the empty engine space of the Test Bmwagon. :D Great work, has put my attempted use of the Prius zvw30 inverter with the L210 sadley to rest... To be replaced with the 300h inverter, and have ordered a Zombie, to follow the path you have blazed... Again well done and thanks.. Enjoy your Zipping 3 around

Looks like hundreds, so 30 to 60mph in couple of seconds .

Helps put your earlier post in line.. about screaming and wheel spinning down the road.😆

One question, the time line on the bottom, is that on tenths of a second,
looks exceptional acceleration if that is so. Thanks

Yes, imagine that is a challenge.. anything approximating stable current draw , you can manage would be great, as your chart can be interpolated to suit difficult request folks like myself. Thanks.

Re: State of Rex hacking?

Yes thanks for the thoughts,
Had considered the 2 plan, leaf motor is not easy connect to present BMW engine , had a small water blast stationary motor, but figure not enough to get to the unloading limit, but would help figure out the regen not functioning.

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3

Nice result there
Thanks for that, looks a vast improvement on the Prius Gen 3 inverter attempt, motor matching issues maybe.

Have initiated BMWagon swap to crown inverter, of matching part number, so hope to fly it soon.

Great work here, have just stumbled across your build..
For this spin up, think was a mention somewhere of changes made by forum folks.
Wondering if still using 2.05a code, or a mod to it?

Re: State of Rex hacking?

Activation of brake switch, Changes to regen config settings of brake, idleregen, and turning all off, seem to have no effect, still 3.5kw or 14A on clamp meter, and it unloads. Finally some variation can be gained by retarding the resolve setting some degrees, and 7kw or 30amp on bus clamp meter ob...

I've done about 20 miles in the car today without any issues inverter temp is about 20 deg C but spikes quite rapidly during acceleration but hasn't peaked over about 33 yet and motor has reached a massive 35 deg C  and I've been driving quite hard within the local speed limits (max 50) :) Nic...

Well done on your progress, is the only other driving if a L210 other than the Bmwagon test that I know of. Have just rcvd a gs300h or crown inverter from Japan, and to replace the Prius zvw30 inverter driving the L210 transmission.. Have 3.75 diff ratio, which i feel will be a speed limitation.. So...

Re: State of Rex hacking?

Have located the relevant manuals , and so far have not found , what may be missing.
Have also now tried the V3.1 vcu, with the same result, so pointing towards something the inverter, possibly an input not satisfied.

Thanks jrbe, the Thunderstruck V1.0 vcu is one of the very first releases, looking to re find the manual . Another step, satisfactory single cylinder test run, second cylinder Inlet blanked off. Observed power returning to the battery , brief run, as no coolant to lubricate the pump, and extract an expected 4 or 5 times waste heat portion of fuel use. Also evident is an unloading to zero amps at around 3...

Re: State of Rex hacking?

Yes, I was surprised by it also, but that's the learning.

It would seem that it now is the trend in recent cycle engines, and although not necessarily required for a generator setup, I guess Bmw used what they had under their umbrella.
