Re: Tesla Large Drive Control Board
The LDU does not rotate when the throttle is engaged and then shows OVERCURRENT lasterr. There are no errors when ignition is turned on or when the start button is pressed. The motor shows that it’s in RUN mode, but when the throttle is engaged we get the OVERCURRENT error.

Re: LDU parameter tuning
Ok...it seems I have this thought that Jon Volk was having issues even set to 0, that at high throttle/rpm there was still some regen kicking in. I just wanted to verify. I may have misunderstood.

Re: Issues with precharge, precharge lets go after 5 sec
Well as it turns out, the negative regulator just above the 8 pin connector was bad, not allowing the board to see voltage at all, If it were a bit cooler, quieter at the track we may have figured it out before leaving. We couldn't even see our screens at the track it was so bright.

Re: LDU parameter tuning
So if the brake pedal input is not used, can regen actually be tuned to 0? The porsche is really light in the rear, and with those huge tires are slippery when they are cold! Id like to get this thing down to 0 regen, then add slowly to simulate engine braking and no more.

Issues with precharge, precharge lets go after 5 sec
Greetings. Yesterday we had the car at the track. We unloaded the car, tooled around about 500 feet at low speed. Rolled into the throttle then DEAD. After, precharge would come on for 5 seconds then it lets go. Udcsw was set properly, but I have moved it down to 300 volts. Precharge occurs and brin...

Re: Gauging and Datalogging the LDU [SOLVED]
Zero EV have some really slick display options that support Open Inverter. You can see some prototypes they built for a Fiat 500 and DeLorean here 8-) We'll know more about pricing after the Fully Charged Show at the start of June. That's a great display, seems like there are options. Does anyone k...

Re: Gauging and Datalogging the LDU [SOLVED]
We display CAN data from the LDU on our Tesla Cobra EV in two ways. We use a RaceCapture MK3 GPS datalogger which can map any CAN variable and datalog it or display in on a Smartphone/Tablet app. https://www.autosportlabs.com/product/racecapturepro-mk3/ I use a Samsung S8+ phone as a display as it ...

Re: Gauging and Datalogging the LDU [SOLVED]
Orion BMS supports the HPEVS AC-51 + Curtis 1239E system, so a quick workaround would be emulating the Curtis CAN data. I have done that before. Not for the Torque, but for a custom gauge I designed. So attached is the CAN structure of the controller data between Orion BMS and Curtis controller. If...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
Encoder wiring. I think it is important to let everyone know that when installing the 2013 p85D LDU in the porsche, that the encA and B signals had to be inverted (I swapped the pins at the motor connector) before this it would only turn very slowly when set to single encoder mode. Damien and I have...

Re: Need help with finding a 95 cell BMS
And Lee. There is so much more than (dead/not dead) battery cells. Ideally all cells in a used pack shouldn't be more than .050-.100mV difference between highest and lowest cells. A good bms will keep them within a desired range which is usually less than .015mV. If you have a resting pack with wild...

Re: Need help with finding a 95 cell BMS
Orion BMS has everything you need to build a safe and tunable BMS system. It has 2 CAN buses, displays data through the Torque App. It has many programmable Inputs and outputs and most importantly contactor control, j1772 compatibility and GROUND FAULT detection, which will unlatch contactors and/or...

Gauging and Datalogging the LDU [SOLVED]
Greetings, I'd like to suggest getting information together for gauging the LDU. I know there are two CAN buses available, one that will output serial data if you move the jumpers on the board. For most of my EV gauging I have used Torque from the Orion BMS which also has two CAN networks. It doesn'...

Re: LDU parameter tuning
Good Morning (us est) It looks like we'll get the #P85DPorsche to the track in the next couple weeks. I will add this for now. So far we've only had one bad experience with inverter settings, encoder mode. We were testing with 40V and vaporized the test leads when I accidentally moved the field beca...
