Re: 1971 GMCe Lexus GS450H BMW 530e Tesla Model S Electruck [FINISHED]
I am tempted to go back to the junk yard and press a few of these down and see if they have a full range of motion when installed or do they bottom out on the carpet, I am 99% certain they bottom out on the carpet and do not have their full range of motion like they do for us on the workbench I had...

ZombieVerter VCU Wont RUN A hunch... When autorefresh is on, the search bar refreshes faster than you can get to the 2nd search item. I've come across a few things like that, that seemed like they were broken or unresponsive, and it was just the auto-refresh. ... On variable names, I'm onboard with...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
Just set temperature de rating in software as high as possible, the hardware is smart enough to over temperature derate Well that's good enough to let it run, but, ideally I could actually find out what the motor and inverter temperatures are. Especially in the initial test drives and such, it's us...

I presume you know this, but the reason the pins on a switch are counterintuitive, is because the switch has a pivot in the middle. Like a teeter totter, when one side of the lever goes up, the other side goes down. So the back end of the lever that actually does the switching, points to the opposit...

Took me a minute to realize what was off about that video.
It's from 13 years ago. Dr. Kelly is standing!
This is how I found out he wasn't born paraplegic. I've only ever seen him in his wheelchair before.

I don't post a lot of updates here ever, but, rebuilt the rear suspension and have just started rebuilding the front suspension, including paying more for all the boots, bushings, brakelines and thingamabobs than I did for both entire cars. So, that's at the most dangerous part of half-done, where t...

Re: Battery sizing and assumptions based on ICE performance
Just a sanity check, working at it backwards...
82kwh / 115 miles = 713wh/mile.
That's about double what a car gets. Which, for a van that normally only gets 19mpg (versus a slipperier car that gets 40mpg)... yep.
This is probably within 10%.

Re: Doing useful things with the Prius Gen2 buck/boost converter
So charging feature would work but not powering the dcdc converter while driving. Oh, I misunderstood. In the video you shared, you say it uses the A/C inverter to do this? I was somewhat planning on using my A/C inverter to run the A/C. Though that said, I also have the A/C off of a Gen3 which onl...

Re: Doing useful things with the Prius Gen2 buck/boost converter
With the SMT version of the Prius controller this is integrated. Good news, I also bought one of those 2nd hand from someone who went a different way. So I have both hardwares. In drive mode the "user PWM" pin runs the boost converter at a fixed rate. In charge mode the regular PWM runs i...

https://www.dynapar.com/technology/encoder_basics/quadrature_encoder/ That was a great link, it was explained the right way for me to understand. Ok, then your best bet would be to put a wheel (a handle) to the shaft and count LED pulses from channel A for one revolution. If there are 64 pulses the...

Can you please attach pictures directly to your post (attachment in Full Editor). When I click these imgur ones I only see a blank page plus they tend to vanish. VW MK1 Rabbit Electric Throttle Install The first part of this video is solid gold. I hadn't considered that you didn't just pick a bunch of pedals, you chose ones that were all different. I HATE those slide on cage nuts. Hello ladies and gentlemen, we'd like to design a device that combines the frailty of sheet metal with the frustrations of loose hardware, we introduce... slide on cage nuts. They'll be just like captive nuts, but they'll break and strip all the goddamn time and then...

Just to confirm: you flashed stm32_loader.hex and stm32_sine.hex (or foc) and you get a 5 Hz blinky LED (provided the through hole board has got one?) To confirm, the blue pill has the red and green LEDs, yes. And you do get a heartbeat flashing, yes. ... Also, blind assumptions, but I wouldn't go ...

I've heard that when joining axles the wrong way, to never cut them square. You cut them at 45 degree angles. That way if the weld seam shatters, they're still forced to spin each other, where a square cut would not.

Re: Am I to dumb for Open Inverter
Is testing these with a bridge rectifier a terrible idea? Ehn... it's certainly more challenging to the inverter circuit than it was designed for. It'll have a gigantic capacitor, but that capacitor is sized for a DC battery which has almost zero voltage change. The capacitor is a reservoir of ener...
