Well that was a waste of time, seems I got over excited and didn't look close enough the front battery box mount is in the way and I'm not changing that so I now have a mesh front lower grill that I didn't need. but it looks good

Re: 1974 Ford Capri
That's a really tidy setup I turbocharged one of my Capri's very budget setup as I had little cash so used a second hand Garrett T3 with draw through setup and low compression pistons from a Ford transit van as they were all I could afford it worked really well right up until one of the pistons came...

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
Have made some progress with the Chademo install, I'm replacing the plastic lower front grill with steel mesh that will have a reinforced secton for the charging socket IMG20240422130333.jpg IMG20240423153928.jpg IMG20240423154036.jpg It was awkward to make as it curves in both directions and being ...

Re: 1974 Ford Capri
Hi all. I've decided to go full EV with my Capri. I found an entire 07 GS450H not far away from me, its missing the hybrid battery but everything else is there. About to start harvesting parts. Transmission, inverter, splined input shaft coupler, drive shaft, oil pump controller, wire harnesses. An...

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
Did you mention something about a software update in pipeline ? Was discussing your savage throttle to a friend, at local ev mod and build group, and seemed that a rate of change factor or some other accelerator control massaging would help to 'soften' the response, and ease loading on your bushes....

While I'm waiting for the next software update I've been getting on with the jobs I've put off, today it was the rear battery box safety disconnect I have already made an adapter to allow me to mount the KIA Niro disconnect flush as the fuse was higher than the mounting face IMG20240403115948.jpg IM...

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
Also as far as I am aware the Mg1 isn't used as a drive motor, this also limits the top speed as mg1 when locked will be the top limit when mg2 has the potential to run faster. in a word no with the input shaft locked the planetary carrier is fixed and the ratio between the gearbox output shaft and...

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
Re the 300h usage, yes you have shown it has great performance promise.. Thanks for the drive you have put in, following a last years statement that seems someone needed to do it...😀 If you are able to measure any rpm to Amps drawn with wheels of the ground, would still be interested for comparison...

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
My Z3 is pretty much off the road for now as the extremely harsh power delivery makes it hard to drive safely and will tear out my bushes some of the updates in the Zombie pipeline should relieve or hopefully fix this issue so I'm doing the jobs I put off while evaluating the feasibility of the 300h...

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
Very Impressive, thanks for graf and graphing. Would you be able to do some stable runs at any 10mph, 20mph, 30 mph, ........etc. etc . Keen to know approximate stable current draw data. Much appreciated if not too difficult to find an airfield ( just kidding) or decent bit of flat road. decent emp...

Here's the latest run hit a max speed of 65mph felt strong and smoothe just ran out of road
6.7mph per 1000 rpm so for me a theoretical 94mph if it makes max rpm and it feels like it will

So does anyone know of a reason that I can't or should not send the charger the messages to charge at 0 Amps when batt volts are above 393v and the ignition is on and not charging to overcome this ?

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
I managed to hit the high voltage limit on the outlander dc-dc yesterday. after charging my battery up I went to take it for a drive and noticed the aux batt volts was dropping took me a while to catch on the battery was only at 393v I thought it was supposed to stop at nearer 397v ? though when I p...
