Re: Transaxle Modifications
No worries RetroZero. So i am hoping to use a 309 volt pack with Gen 3 Toyota inverter, and use the DC DC converter the way it was originally intended. That way the Ldi/dt needs to be less to generate 400 Volts or so for the highest speed. I hope that means less power dissipation in the DC/DC induct...

Re: Transaxle Modifications
This graph is my guess of the torque and power outputs:.
I have guessed the generator has a flat torque curve until twice motor speed, because normally the generator travels at twice the speed of the motor.

Re: Transaxle Modifications
that is correct RetroZero. My project has finally started moving again. I have had an axle that mates with MG1 and MG2 directly. My first shaft didn't have a slot for the oil pump, but the company making the shaft have worked out a way to add the oil pump slot. if you are going to use the spline for...

Re: Denso ES27C AC Compressor control (Lexus, Leaf, etc)
Erika, I have a Toyota Hybrid Camry AVV50R on my front lawn it has a Denso compressor in it. Hopefully same as yours. Will connect my Picoscope to the signals of the compressor for you. Been meaning to do this for ages, but other things keep popping up...

Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller
I'm confused, Gen 2 MG2 requires FOC and current sensors additional circuits, or modify the outputs to match the inputs on Analog to Digital Converter? Well i am not sure why, but Prius inverter uses 2x AU6802 chips under the main board. I like them because they can provide signal from resolver and...

Re: Transaxle Modifications
Hi RetroZero, I am sure MG1 won't overspin. The welded planetary gear has two teeth that engage with a spindle for turning the existing oil pump. Are you thinking this wont be adequate? The transaxle does have water cooling that needs to be used of course. This transaxle would be able to move a 800k...

Re: EV car conversion hardware
I put a 40A version of these chinese power supplies in a plastic box along with 1000uFcapacitor and use it instead of a 12 volt battery for testing. Was flawless for running TRW (Holden/) Opel Astra power steering pump.

Re: EV car conversion hardware
i would like to find these from a cheaper supplier for my second conversion though. Or use something completely different. Tesla Model 3 HV connector assemblies can be purchased at low cost if you hunt around (look for damaged charge port listings). They're TE HC-STACK series and information is spa...

Re: Transaxle Modifications
i have had a special axle made that joins MG1 and MG2 together. My project is very slow, so when i started my project half of the motors available now, were hot when i started.
Hoping to make more progress in the next couple of months.

Re: Toyota Gen 3 inverter charger
Yeah, and very specifically I mean isolation, not insulation. Production EVs can have an isolation testing system on the HV bus that's measuring isolation regarding to chassis ground. I don't know which cars have it. I think it might be active when charging, and would consider it a fault if the cha...

Hello, all, I found this EV book this morning, it contains many chapters on FOC control equations of motors both IMs and PMAC types. It has many chapters on dynamic control as well as high level coding. It is like one repository for many EV subjects of interest to this forum. I hope this is useful. ...

Re: EV car conversion hardware
Very interesting Arber. I have bought this plug and socket to use to isolate the inverter when working on it. A friend has 3D printed a plastic cover for the socket, which will have live pins on it from the battery. The plastic cover is an additional safety factor.

AwesomeMat, the bloke that removed the cables had to open the V2 to get the HV transaxle cables out of it, and they also forgot to put the 6 bolts back.

Re: Prius Gen3 Inverter Hacking
So made an interesting find. It would seem that ALL the modern Toyota hybrid range of inverter/converters use the same synchronous serial interface for control as the Lexus GS450H. Now the commands will probably be different but the hardware would be the same opening the door to using these inverte...

Re: BMW CAN Messaging
I have looked at the A2 KOM instrument cluster of my BMW e39. I can't find CAN messaging going to this. Instead I have found an RPM signal. I measured that today with a Picoscope and obtained the following signal. I understand this signal goes from the DME MS41.0 ECU to the A2 instrument cluster, so...

Re: Thoughts on my wiring schematic?
Cloudy that is exactly what they do. Battery pack voltage split in two, visible air gap for people working on the HV wires.
I have also bought a plug and socket with 50mm2 screened orange sheathed cable for connection from battery pack to inverter.
