Re: DIY Economiser for OEM Contactors
- any need to vary PWM frequency? - any need to vary duty cycle? - any need to vary the constant on time duration? They are adjusted via the values of capacitor Cdelay and resistors Rpwm and Rfrq on Zieg's and Pete's schematics. I downloaded the datasheet from TI's website. It has tables with the v...

Re: DIY Economiser for OEM Contactors
Direct solder to the board is my preference. If we leave the board without any connector, we'll give the user the choice of their own.
BTW, I looked at the schematics and it already has the diode I've mentioned earlier. This makes it more desirable for my conversion.

Re: DIY Economiser for OEM Contactors
True, it would be more practical to preorder the DRV103 and let them finish the board. I had a look at their option of pre-ordering, but didn't quite follow the procedure. Didn't know that they can solder the screws and connectors; this part can be easily done by us. In regards to interest, yes, I a...

JLC Quote: USD32.2 + shipping + import taxes for 5 populated boards, except DRV103 which wasn't in stock.

Re: DIY Economiser for OEM Contactors
KiCAD generated the gerber files, but I can't attach them to my post. I'll message Johu.
On KiCAD there is a feature called Inspect, I run it and it came with some warnings. I've never used KiCAD so, I've left everything as is. Next, I'll try to get a quote from JLC and let you know the price.

Re: DIY Economiser for OEM Contactors
I should be able to solder the components, but my thought was, if we have to order the PCBs, we might as well let JLC place them. I've ordered in the past some boards from JLC and the price was good, considering the amount of work needed for soldering by hand. JLC will need the file (spreadsheet) fo...

Re: DIY Economiser for OEM Contactors
Hello Zieg,
I would be interested to buy 2 or 3 economisers if you have available. I am in Canada as well, Toronto area. Alternatively, if you need some as well, maybe we can order a batch through JLCPCB. I don't mind having more than 3.
Nice work, thanks to you and Pete for the efforts.
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Arduino DUE VCU with analog and CAN control
Hello Arber, sounds quite impressive what you are building. If I can use it with the Outlander or Leaf chargers and JK BMS and can be integrated with the rest of the equipment, then I am interested; you can put my name on the purchase list. Cheers, Paul PS. Ease of use would be quite important for &...

Re: Arduino DUE VCU with analog and CAN control
Hello Arber, thanks for your prompt reply. The price sounds quite reasonable to me. BT app means controlling through the phone? This sounds very good. Not sure how much effort it requires. Maybe initially controlling through a web interface might be enough if this involves less work. I am a mechanic...

Re: Arduino DUE VCU with analog and CAN control
Hello Arber, great work. Do you intend to sell the controller? From what I read, it should be useful for my conversion. I am at the stage of selecting a charger and a BMS. Finally I’ve got the batteries, Kokam 75Ah (used). Before purchasing the BMS and the charger I want to make sure that all the eq...

Thanks Alehandro, I couldn't find an earlier version. If I remember well, I accessed Johaness' github, but only found the latest version which was the same I had. I'll try again next week.

Hello Hakan, That's a lot of progress. I do have the spreadsheet created by Attila Vass, but there are no CAN bus frames, he identified PIDs if remember well. My apologies for the late reply, I am on vacation and it just crossed my mind to check the news on the forum, hence found your post. I'll mes...

Re: Kokam cells, how do they perform? BMS
Thanks Arber and marty for your replies. Arber, I had a look at your blog and got the idea. Very helpful. Yes, a webasto is what is needed here in Canada. Before I go ahead I'll take more notes on information available here. Thanks for the feedback about Kokam.

Kokam cells, how do they perform? BMS
Hello all, Would be interested to know how Kokam cells are performing. Reading the posts, I understand that some of you have used this brand. I am planning to build my own pack using 103 Ah Kokam cells, 66 of them in series. The size of the cell is width:268, length (tabs excluded): 265, thickness: ...

Hello eCRX, what did you end up buying? I am at this stage too. I have one from Canadian Tire ( I am in Ontario as well) which works quite well, but it doesn't have DC amp-meter. Home Depot has a model which I am considering, Klein Digital Clamp Meter. Link: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/klein-to...

Re: Toyota Prius gen2 plug and play
Great idea. I would be interested in the board you have designed. Did you sort out the issues on the board you mentioned in your first post? Is the board working in conjunction with the openinverter VCU designed by Johannes? I just started the same project of converting a Prius Gen2 to full EV. I am...

Thanks Johannes for the prompt reply, In regards to fslipspnt and ampnom, this is what Damien tested in open loop mode (FOC tuning video).
