Re: BMW LIM based CCS2 Controller

Disregard my ISA tangent. I made it all fit. Still need to do some routing and put the isolation cutouts back.

Re: BMW LIM based CCS2 Controller

So I should elaborate on my ISA shunt plan. I don't see a practical necessity for the ISA voltage when I have CAN reporting of the BMS. So it would just run the HV measurement off the CCS contactors to the ISA as Im 99.9% sure the current and voltage can be mutually exclusive. Everything is already ...

Re: BMW LIM based CCS2 Controller

Update for anyone following along. Been spending some time getting the dual Volt BMS portion implemented and I think I've got that all squared away. Need to do some more charge/discharge cycles to verify the balancing is working correctly. I also need to do Rev2 of the board. I undersized the 5v LDO...

Re: Arduino Libraries Rant

Arduino framework is a good gateway drug. I have no regrets about forcing myself to learn C. I also find it easier to find where something is broken than slogging through layers of libraries that may or may not be completely functional. I can stomach spending a day chasing my own screw up, but someo...

Re: The Tesla LDU traction control thread ?.

, I wonder if anyone has attempted to use the Tesla iBooster plus their brake distribution block to do custom braking? This seems like still an untapped area of research. Im running an ibooster with eventual intentions of exploring this. Are you aware of any CAN logs that might be available from th...

Re: User selectable throttle response by CAN

The sensor I currently have in the car is a G-NSDOG2-002. It's a pure analog output and needs some filtering to function reasonably well. Ive got some remedial averaging that works well enough. Ill likely be swapping it out for one of these as it does on-board kalman filtering and fully configurable...

Re: User selectable throttle response by CAN

I’ve done similar mode switching. The most dramatic change in torque will be fweak and fslip. Both get really need to be adjusted together at the limit to prevent overcurrent trips which are usually hardware desat faults on an LDU and require a full LDU power cycle. The only throttle parameter for d...

Mine? Been working on the Volt BMS portion. Got that mostly working this weekend. Turning my attention to the CCS side soon.

EDIT: while not CCS, we do have flashy lighty stuff. Im sure that's equally useful

Re: Need a simple, small CAN transmitter!

I can't be any immediate help, but I'm super interested in that Teensy CAN module. For my EV projects, I am planning to everything to be CAN based, and then to have a central controller to tie everything together. This Teensy would be ideal and may save me the effort of building my own MCU+CAN boar...

Re: Gen2 tesla charger with commercial firmware [SOLVED]

No, the loader should be telling where to jump to on application startup. The reset button causes a jump to a reset vector, which is likely why it runs if you press the button.

Re: Inverter Firmware v5.12.R

The mod basically adds another value for fweak at low throttle input. You can bypass it by setting fweakstrt to the same value as fweak. So at the default fweakstrt value of 400, and let’s use a value of 250 as fweak. The fweak value that the software uses from 0-30% throttle is 400, then it linearl...

If you’re having to press reset on every power cycle that doesn’t sound right, but not something I’ve seen anyone ever have a problem with.

Did you get your own pcb made for the charger as well?

Are you programming over wifi or SWD? I only need to reset/power cycle after an SWD flash. I wouldn't classify that as a problem unless I'm not understanding your situation.

Kicad stuff https://github.com/jonvolk/DUAL_BMS_CCS After some opamp vref tweaking Im content with the voltage sensing results. Re: BMW LIM based CCS2 Controller

Ill post the files this weekend. Initial results seemed pretty good. Ill need to adjust some resistor values slightly, but we look pretty good. The output voltage reads a little higher resulting in about a HV measurement around 10vdc higher than actual. Insulation resistance test between HV loop and...

Re: Accesibility of the 2 unused connections on LDU Ampseal?

So I finally had a chance to drop the drive unit and pull the board. Connected via SWD and did a memory compare to both the previous good running bin and the one I was attempting to flash. There was a mismatch on both. Reflashed via SWD and parameters reappeared on the WiFi. I was also able to flash...

Re: BMW LIM based CCS2 Controller

Assembled, mcu takes a flash and the hottest spot after an hour of supplying 8v to the contactor resistors was 110F directly behind them on the board and quickly drops to around 80F in 70 ambient moving away from the backside of the pad. So far so good. 4ACAEBB5-AAF8-4A12-9DFE-D7028DBB88AC.jpeg 5C97...

Re: BMW LIM based CCS2 Controller

Boards arrived so hopefully some initial testing after an insulation resistance test and wrapping up some code. I did end up adding a big heat sink as those resistors did heat up quick by themselves on the bench. I guess never underestimate power dissipation. https://www.instagram.com/p/CUvedxELrOc/...
