I monitoring CAN and get IDs 0x1DA 0x120 and 0x55A for about 5 seconds then nothing. I've tried supplying power to the inverter separately from the PDM, with and with HV (207VDC Prius Pack) and nothing. Any ideas anyone?


You need to start sending 0x11A 0x1D4 and 0x50B towards the inverter right ...

I got the logs! From an e+. Still no luck with getting 500A, but we are getting there slowly. I got a lot of fault codes cleared now that I know what to send on the bus.

I have concluded that we won't get further with raising power from 400A -> 500A without a native LEAF 2019 e+ EV-CAN log.

my 160kw inverter installed on leaf 2014 gives max 145kw and 400A, why is that? changed the multiplier and there is no difference at the maximum current.


I too am struggling with the 400A limit with a 40kWh pack. I've seen screenshots from Leafspy Pro with 180kW (500A), so something is missing ...

Seems like all components are the same and only firmware will determine the power output.

Also note that the car needs to be in ACC mode, not ON when doing the resolve writing! Known working "WRITE-ID-86-00-14-00-55.log" file uploaded to main post!

I couldn't resist, so I installed the 160kW inverter with the 40kWh pack. No fuse problems so far

Just got my hands on a gen4 (technically gen5) inverter! The part number for this 160kW inverter is 291A0-5SN0A. Anything I should check before chucking this into the LEAF?

Great! I will work on getting the fault code cleared now.

My hypothesis is that some 10ms message is missing. The new inverter is sending a 0x120 that is just a heartbeat, so maybe the other similar ones are missing (like 0x1C2 or 0x1ED). I'll let you know if I have any breakthroughs!

This was mentioned in the video, the ZE1 inverter only needs the two first digits. That is why the rest are just listed as --



But the above commands work for all generations, the extra numbers just get ignored!

The sensor is screwed into the inverter base and comes with it as it is part of a coolant path. The main issue was trying to find a connector to fit, it's some kind of Denso plug I think, I just used bare pins and glue.

Can you post some high def pictures of both ends? My simple fix proposal would be to add some copper stranding into the pin that is misbehaving, that should force the connection to become tight. But that is a temporary fix that only works reliably ...
