Re: Toyota Prius Gen 2 Inverter Controller

MIVB and MIWB can just remain unconnected at the inverter end. Not an expert with some firmware as I’ve never used it, I thought the v/hz based firmware doesn’t require current sensor feedback? Using an encoder gives actual rotor speed feedback probably means slip angle can me monitored again no exp...

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97

Fair enough, I was just reading up on Toyota sync serial comms and thought of you, reason being I have an rx450h inverter here that I’d like to get working via serial. Not sure how feasible finding the ham commands without a working car to log is going to be, if I do get it working, (I have a spare ...

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97

about halfway down this page https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=205&hilit=gs450h+inverter+communication&start=75 arturk mentions he's having difficulty with reverse, using a prius gen3 on gs450 motor a couple of pages later: I did test few things and wanted to share my findings. ...

Re: [DRIVING] Renault Clio Electrique -97

I know this many be a little late but I was reading the gs450h inverter communication thread yesterday and picked up on someone having similar problems to what you encountered when trying to use a Prius gen3 inverter to drive a gs450 motor, turns out the wiring diagram’s for the Prius inverter had c...

Re: GS450h without external oil pump

I was wondering about an accumulator, but without knowing the flow rate of the valve body it would be hard to appropriately size, and yes you’d have 1 shot at pulling away and need to continue moving to refill it, stop start traffic would be impossible. I think the only solution is keep the pump or ...

Re: GS450h without external oil pump

I think if you plan to remove the external pump then you’ll have to find a way to mechanically lock the output into gear, there’s no way those clutches are going to like being slipped, I’ve not had the ga450 transmission apart but it could be as simple as drilling and tapping the housing to wind a b...

Re: [DRIVING] Project RX8 , Prius gen2, Lexus transaxle to rwd

Nothing much in the way of updates, I’ve bought a house so that requires most of me free time, probably a solar panel project coming this summer! I have however acquired an rx450h inverter at a price to good to pass up, I’m hoping to gen it running via serial as over have done for the gs450 and Priu...

Yes I didn’t come into ev’s chasing the eco friendly ideals, in fact with it being -5 here a couple of days ago I have been driving around in a 2.5v6 Mazda bongo rather than trying to get my battery above freezing! But it’s only reinforced how much better I find driving electric

Personally I think diesel heaters go against the spirit of an ev! Putting a fuel tank back in! But I get the appeal I had one in my camper and the Chinese webasto copies are bloody good for the money, I have my front bmw modules sat on heated seat pads in the box and a couple of 12v ptc fan heaters ...

Re: 1984 Voltswagen Rabbit

https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1735 I take it you were thinking of using gen3 because the gen3 inverter is supported by the zombie? Make senses Twin motors using oi boards are no longer supported with the latest firmware (used to be able to use one oi board with analog throttle and s...

Re: 1984 Voltswagen Rabbit

Definitely it needs to be Prius! In think gen2 with welded psd and powering mg1 and 2 would be my choice. It will be simpler than gen3, purely because once the psd on gen 2 is welded both mg1 and mg2 will spin as the same speed and more evenly contribute torque to the reduction gears, The gen3 uses ...

This generation of vw abs modules employed “electronic differential lock” active at low speeds, and doesn’t flash the abs light as far as I’m aware, looks like by pulling the abs sensor and disabling the system it stops that behaviour, silly question does it do it with both wheels jacked up? (I’m su...

Re: 1971 GMCe Lexus GS450H BMW 530e Tesla Model S Electruck [FINISHED]

Would be interesting to compare to a higher state of charge run, see if the Toyota derates current at higher Soc to provide a constant power level throughout state of charge, pretty sure the leaf inverter does this when controlled via can, Those of us running oi controller boards certainly gain powe...

The other option being driving the prop shaft from the input shaft of the transaxle, this does unfortunately require even more extensive modifications including solidly coupling mg1 mg2 and the input shaft, reversing the oil pump ports as it will have to run backwards ect, it can be done see my buil...

Re: Newb Asks: Should we top off our battery, after charging?

My approach is if I need the range yes I top off to 4.125v per cell before heading out, if I’m not in need of maximum range then I’ll leave it where it settles after charging to 4.05v per cell (normally settles to about 4v
