Re: need help I identifying Electronic parts. Chevy Volt DCtoDC
DCDC + High Voltage connected to a dedicated contactor then to 20amp breaker then to HV Battery +. DCDC - High Voltage connected directly to HV battery Negative Main Contactor(s) (Contactor #1) remains open. Battery Charger Contactor (Contactor #3) is always open until the AC is connected. I think t...

Oh boy...
I guess the only way to figure out if it's a capacitor or resistor is to remove it and measure it....right?

need help I identifying Electronic parts. Chevy Volt DCtoDC
Wasn't sure where to post this question so I posted it here.... I'm now on my 3rd DCtoDC converter. For some reason the board burns/shorts out at the same spot. I was hoping someone on here can identify 4 numbered parts. (especially #2) This way I can try to replace them instead of buying the entire...

Re: Chevy Volt Gen 2 charger 24281923
The most I ever saw was 12amps but, the battery was very low on charge.
But when the battery was almost fully charged the amps output dropped to around 8.9 amps.
Both readings were from the DC side of the charger.

Wanted 2016-2018 Chevy Volt DC to DC Converter
2016–2019.
Or any other PWM controlled DC to DC converter.
Mine had the magical blue smoke come over of it.
Thanks.

Re: Arduino CanBus message question
ok, I tried y = (canMsg.data[4]*256)+(canMsg.data[3])/4; (5th byte isn't necessary) but I'm still have the same issue. When Discharging, byte 3 rolls over from 00 (0) to FF (255) it changes the math equation results dramatically which then messes with analogWrite. I did a quick video to illustrate w...

Arduino CanBus message question
Hi all, I'm using ISA shunt to give me voltage a current reading. ID 522 is for the voltage reading. Len is 8 bits long. Bits 3,4, and 5 are the actual voltage reading bits. What I'm trying to do is use the factory fuel gauge as the Battery Voltage gauge. Factory Gauge works with PWM. What I'm able ...

Thanks Matt for this awesome answer. I'm the type of guy that wants to be legit and I don't want to worried about driving around thinking if I ever got into a accident would my insurance cover me. Well spring is here and thought I would try again to find insurance. Call my insurance broker and he we...

Insurance in Ontario Canada?
Well.... Before I started this conversion I called my insurance company (Hagerty) and asked if they would still insure the car even after I converted it to electric. They assured me they would but, the car would be consider "Modified". And I was good with that. 12 months later and the car ...

Just a FYI,
If it hasn't been said yet...
I was able to control the Charger using the 5V off a Arduino Uno.

Sorry no i haven't.
Got it installed but just have reached the point yet where i need to dive in deeper.
But from Jack Richards video its a single wire canbus. and I guess you will need a Single wire controller.
Good luck.
Tony

Well after about 4 weekends checking this and that it came down to one REQ+ pin wasn't making contact in the "A" connecter on the VCU and I had the Resolvers connections all screwed up. Moral of the story... When checking connections go from connector inside the inverter to final connector...

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
You don't need to connect or worry about anything else (throttle, PRNDL, etc) to get basic communication. Just those 3 pairs of wires. Change the mth_mask array to all 1's to be able to read back the entire MTH stream. funny thing I'm having the same issues as Gigas. It was working during bench tes...

Re: BMW e46 with GS450H Chevy Volt Battery
Is that using the original driveshaft? Interesting how far back you got your gearbox to sit as with my e46 touring it was sat a lot closer to the front of the car (also using original driveshaft) so much so the inverter could sit on top of it I used original e46 driveshaft but cut the end off and u...

BMW e46 with GS450H Chevy Volt Battery [DRIVING]
Got into all of this while I was surfing through YouTube and stumble across on of Damien's videos. After seeing Damien turn a spanner (wrench for us north Americans) glowing RED hot dead shorting a calb battery and shoving 1000amps through it, I knew then I had to subscribe and check this guy out. A...
