Re: Info on BMW hybrid battery packs?
and no one stocks / sells them in smaller amounts. Anyone have a tip ? It's worth checking the BMW website, I had to buy another cable to go between modules and it was very reasonably priced at £23. Pretty much every part of the battery pack is available except the modules themselves. I'm normally ...

Re: Info on BMW hybrid battery packs?
I suppose you didn't find any debri between modules as described in the recall? The article refers to: "welding debris left inside the pack that could create a short between modules. The component manufacturer is listed as Samsung." I cant see any reason why there would be welding going o...

Re: Project TBC (learn some stuff)
Battery Purchase It's been several months since I last wrote an update, where do the weeks go! Anyway I have been on the look out for a good deal on a battery since I started this project and found what I needed at the end of January. This post will focus on the purchase, but I have also added a fe...

Re: Info on BMW hybrid battery packs?
I recently purchased one of the newer 12Kwh 34Ah packs and thought I would highlight some of the differences I have noticed to the information that has been posted in the thread so far. This post will focus on the technical stuff, details of the purchase are on my project thread here: https://openin...

IMO they are reminescence of earlier iterations to be wiped. :) Not necessarily earlier iteration, remember that the firmware and general design is used in several other inverter logic boards as well, some of which use those inputs. Detection of the board version is implemented in the firmware to s...

Re: Prius Gen 3 Inverter Logic Board Support Thread
The question is : Have we lost our external CAN bus (because on the external Ampseal connector we have only charger CAN bus ) ? Can we be able to control all MG1, MG2 and Charger via CAN bus Correct, at the moment there is no external CAN access to the STM32s for MG1 and MG2on the v1d boards. I pla...

Re: Gen 3 inverter converter control software
I'll not be using it unless someone comes up with a neat way of using it on single phase on packs the > 340VDC batteries, as that is beyond my ability. I'm in the same boat with a battery voltage that is above rectified single phase when full and below when empty. My plan is to fit an extra igbt or...

wanted BMW Battery module interconnect cable
I have unfortunately damaged one of the connectors on the cables between the battery modules on my BMW hybrid pack. They are only £27 from BMW but If anyone has one going spare and are willing to sell for less please let me know. The length doesn't matter.

Re: Prius Gen 3 Dual Motor Logic Board Support Thread
I think, that COOLANT_TMP line is hanging loose. I've check on a few schemas and every where is this same. So my understanding is that it's not used and not needed. But where it supposed go initially? If you take a look on Damien's github at the v1 Prius schematic (not 1c or 1d, just v1) it is show...

if anyone has any recommendations for rewiring I would be happy to hack at the windings without concern for function afterward. Bear in mind I haven't opened mine up yet, this is just based on another photo earlier in the thread, but I would suggest trying to find the three crimps I have arrowed in...

Re: Prius Gen 3 Dual Motor Logic Board Support Thread
Yep that's what I'm thinking, just didn't want to upset the apple cart by changing too much in one go. Unifying single and dual is a bit more tricky than just the BOM as at the moment there are differences in the CAN, the idc pinout, the current sensors parreleling and the igbt parreleling. This can...

Re: Sharing one ESP8266 between multiple STM32s
The reason why I write about it is because it is a breaking change. The board with two ESP modules would always start into an inactive MG1 MCU. Any comments? I am keen to see this happen, and am willing to do some work towards it. Have you tried the idea out or done any of the software changes? If ...

Re: Prius Gen 3 Dual Motor Logic Board Support Thread

The idea being that I gain more experience with electronics and PCB design and at the same time Damien has one fewer juggling...

Hello. I'm not sure if I'm writing on the right topic (if I'm in the way, delete it). Help me please. I have a project - a small yacht with a hybrid engine. The following connection scheme is desirable: MG1 is connected to a diesel engine (3.5 kW) as a generator (and a diesel starter). MG2 acts as ...

i am having a bit of trouble finding the Ampseal 35 pinout for this dual motor version d case. Apologies if the inform...

Re: Outlander front motor + Prius Gen 3 inverter
When setting up this motor I found the default value of 20000 for the current control integral gain 'curki' was far too high for this motor. With 20A of manual ID the plot shows very poor current control. It still spun fine but I could hear a white noise while the motor was running, especially notic...

CAN Message Mapping Seen as this is the support thread, and if (like me) you have never used CAN massaging before, this post is for you. I was naïve enough to think that because the MG1 microcontroller recognises itself as 'Prius MG1' that this would all be set up automatically, I was wrong. Lookin...

Re: Project TBC (learn some stuff)
Spinning motors Once everything was connected the first step, which is easy to overlook, was to calibrate UDC. Suppose it isnt essential but needs doing at some point anyway. Fairly straight forward procedure, just adjust udcgain and udcofs until the inverter reads the same as a voltmeter. The same...
