Re: 450h Oil Pump Sounds Loud
Mine is smooth at low duty, no cyclical noises like yours. Could be bearings too, I’d take the pump apart and replace them. Does not sound good in that video! Dang.... Yeah I think I just might do that. A while ago I noticed someone post a step by step on how to replace the bearing, did anyone have...

Re: 450h Oil Pump Sounds Loud
Sounds dry to me, could also be cavitation if it’s cold and you’re running it at high speed. Incidentally, I logged on to post a similar question to the forum. With new transmission fluid fully filled, I hear what sounds like cavitation above about 40-45% duty, depending on ambient temp (~60F). Thi...

Re: 450h Oil Pump Sounds Loud
So I went ahead and changed the oil on the transmission (drained out old oil and filled with about 5.5 quarts). After that I tried a few different duty cycles (10, 20, 50, 80) and I still think it sounds loud. 20 definitely sounds the quietest, but how do I know if appropriate oil pressure is being ...

Re: 450h Oil Pump Sounds Loud
Hmmmmm, wow, I guess I didn't check. I could hear fluid moving around in there, but I didn't check if it was filled. What kind of oil should I fill it with?

450h Oil Pump Sounds Loud
Hi All, I recently tested the control of the oil pump on my 450h transmission, and it sounds really loud when it runs. I can also hear the oil sloshing around, so it might technically be working. I am using Damien's VCU, and it sounds loud across a range of PWM duty cycles. I am guessing it shouldn'...

Nice! Yeah that makes sense. I'm thinking the same for my build. Did you also buy that from ElectricGt?rjmcdermott81 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 11:17 am Thanks! I'm starting with a TC 3.3 kW charger. If I drive the car frequently I may upgrade later.

Re: Chevy Volt Gen1 Charger
Oh man! Well sounds like this could be one source of error. I was connecting the 12V GND to the frame (I assumed a chassis ground set up). Ok, I'll give that a shot. Hmmm, that didnt work. I connected pins 1, 6, 7 to 12V, the aux to 12V battery, L1 and N to 110V wall outlet, and nothing. Could it b...

Re: Chevy Volt Gen1 Charger
Well, Volt gen1 charger has 2 CAN bus outputs, but it only uses one of them, pins 2, 3. You need to provide pins 1, 6 and 7 with 12V. Pin 7 is interlock and nothing works without it powered. Pin 6 is 12V from Enable relay. Pin 1 is charger 12V supply. GND is connected on the Aux output side, but th...

Re: Chevy Volt Gen1 Charger
Man, having a pretty tough time here. I connected the charger input's L1 and N to a 110v outlet (leaving L2 disconnected because I dont have a split phase supply), connected the 12v and CAN lines to my CAN bus according to the link below, programmed a Teensy 4 to send the correct messages (30ms hear...

Re: SimpBMS Reading from Chevy Volt Gen 1
Check your settings in the battery settings, is it set to 96 cells in series and 1 parallel string? Ahh, looks like it wasn't! Below is what I have. I'll update this and let you know how it goes. settings.Pstrings = 1; // strings in parallel used to divide voltage of pack settings.Scells = 12;//Cel...

Re: SimpBMS Reading from Chevy Volt Gen 1
For those keeping tabs, I managed to find the BMS modules listed on Ebay. I got them in, installed them, and things look good! Reads all 96 cells, and output the same voltage that I read with a multimeter. The only thing is that the print out skips module 8, which I am guessing is why it says "...

Re: Chevy Volt Gen1 Charger
Anyone know how I can bench test the charger? I have a SimpBMS board, so I figure I can control the charger that way, but what kind of load should I connect it to? Ideally I would like to test it on something before connecting it to the main battery. Thoughts?

Re: SimpBMS Reading from Chevy Volt Gen 1
Oh nice! Ok, I'll keep an eye out for that. I found a set that has 3 of the 4 boards available, but they have a different part number of 22911432, and mine is 22880273. I assume it wouldn't be a great idea to mix and match, right?

Re: SimpBMS Reading from Chevy Volt Gen 1
Mind doing the following, unplug the HV sense wires one at a time till you find one that causes no change. Thanks Tom. I did this, and although there wasn't a connection that had no change, pack 2 did drop out module 6, which is the one we were looking for. I pulled out that bms, opened it up, and,...

Re: SimpBMS Reading from Chevy Volt Gen 1
Pack 3 as it only shows 8 cells but the module is monitoring more. Nice! Now the question is how to fix it? I suppose I could try finding a bms slave somewhere? I found one on ebay, but its part number is 22911432 and mine is 22880273. I highly doubt it's a good idea to mix and match like that... I...

Re: SimpBMS Reading from Chevy Volt Gen 1
I would say unplug each slave on the LV side one by one to identify the reported modules. You need to find the one reporting module 6 as 5 7 8 are missing. Thanks Tom. Did this and had some strange results. Still not quite sure which one would be defective... Per the attached image, when I disconne...

Re: SimpBMS Reading from Chevy Volt Gen 1
Dang... I was worried about that. I noticed that one of the slaves has a dirt ring on it as if some water was on there at some point... I'm worried that I may have gotten damaged while it was sitting at the junk yard. Is there a way where I can individually check each BMS? Something like compare the...

Re: Chevy Volt Gen1 Charger
I tried to find the three pin last year but everywhere I looked they were NLA. If you get a two pin one you could adapt it to fit, as the outer parts are the same. Think I might have a couple in the garage. Dang... I did notice your post from last year... how did you get around it? Find a wiring ha...

Re: Chevy Volt Gen1 Charger
So I purchased the Chevy Volt charger, but now I need the Delphi connectors. The 2 pin connector seems to be Delphi / APTIV P/N 33107347 , but I cant find info on the 3 pin connector. Any help there?

SimpBMS Reading from Chevy Volt Gen 1
Hi All, I believe I got the SimpBMS software running on a Teensy 3.2, so I plugged it into my gen 1 Chevy Volt battery to read the cell voltages and I got the following (shown below). Now, the pack voltage from SimpBMS is 279.5 V, but I measured the voltage with a multimeter myself to be at around 3...
