Back to the motor:
While it seems to run fine I think I have quite a lot of tinkering with the parameters left. Right now I have to push one quarter of the accellerator to get the motor to even spin and when it does it spins really fast. I have to study the paremeters more I think...

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
The bad: I accedentially managed to puncture a cell in one of the battery modules when I was redoing the boxes a bit. :( It smoked for a second but then nothing more happend. I instanly disconnected the punctured cell from the rest of the module, by removing the small wires on the underside. I then ...

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
Update finally! It has been a while since my last update here but the project is still going forward, though slowly. I kind of hit a milestone today with running the motor in the car with driveshafts connected, oil in it, coolant flowing and at full battery voltage. I have also connected the BMS (O...

Re: Where to buy SDU Molex housing?
I was about to email Molex but you needed a company organisation number to do that so I just left it at that. Mine still works but it's very brittle so it might brake completely. It shouldn't be to hard to 3d print it if you have the experience in CAD and a 3d printer, both which I don't have at the...

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
Mounting almost done. I've used 6 and 5 mm steel because that's what I have lots of. It's easy to weld as well. Next step is the find a pair of driveshafts that fit. They need to be a bit longer then the original ones. It would also be a plus if they had different fittings. Because now I have 100mm ...

Hey Johannes, what a great project! I have nearly the same goal! Here you can see my project! https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1597 Did you found some more informations for the right angle of the SDU? My Plan is to have the rear screw 15mm higher than the front screw of the S...

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
Can you give more details on your pack if you have them, like model year and trim? I've seen (supposedly) 55kWh packs that use the full length of the battery case, so it'd be good to see if there's a way of knowing if a pack has short or long modules. The short modules would definitely be the ones ...

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
Now I started working on the motor attachment and aliment. I'm just wondering a bit how the angle should be. I think the small attachment on the motor side should align with the car, so that the bolt going through it will be horizontal with the car. And I've also heard that it should tilt something ...

Re: Tesla SDU forward direction
I can also confirm that my SDU spins in reverse when it should go forward.
So it's enough to set it to "SwitchReversed" then? One less problem to think about at least.

I might only be stupid but I need a vertical one and not a right angled. Se the pictures below. I can only find the ones that you said but they doesn't seem to fit.
Thanks anyway!

Re: Tesla Model 3 Battery Hacking
Don't know if anyone have any use of these but I have the main BMS board and the small boards on the modules which I dissembled from the small Model 3 battery pack. 24 cells in series.

Where to buy SDU Molex housing?
Hi! Does anyone know where to buy or if you can buy the plastic housing, for the mx150 20 pin, connected to to Small model s motor? Mine has been very brittle and was already a bit damaged when I got the motor. But I don't know what to search for.
Thanks!

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
So it's been some time since my last update but I have tried to work on the bus every weekend. I have welded extra steel beams under the bus so I can fasten the battery modules. I'm not a pro welder so it took some time to get it right but I'm pretty happy now. It's going to be tight though with onl...

Re: Tesla SDU damaged controller/inverter
I tried again with the new firmware and parameters and hooked it up with contactors and pre charge. When I supplied it with voltage it closed the pre charge and when I pressed the ignition button the pre charge opened and the main closed but opened right after. And after that the controller was dead...

Tesla SDU damaged controller/inverter
Hi! My clumsiness might have damaged my opensource board or maybe the inverter. I hooked up the motor (with the openinverter board) to one battery module (86volts) and got it running in manual mode. Then I connected the model 3 contactors so I got precharge. I also connected a throttle pedal (prius)...

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
So in the end I settled for solar charging a big 12V 200ah battery for all my appliances and stuff like heated windscreen, seat heating, fridge etc.... i even plan to have a VW 800watt 12v ptc heater element fitted in the original air distribution box. This way my dc-dc will be used less often. The...

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
Not very elegant or efficient, but could you use a 12V to AC inverter and plug it into your AC charger? It would take a long long time to charge. Yes I have been thinking about that but would loose a lot of efficiency. Maybe 80% efficiency. The reason I ask is that I'm going to use the car as a cam...

Re: VW Transporter -85 EV conversion
Does anyone know a good way to charge the HV battery with a solar panel? Because I'm planning to have at least one 300W panel on the roof but most of them are 12vDC. I could just charge the 12v battery and maybe skip the DC to DC converter but it would be nice if there was a way to charge the big ba...
