I've been playing with the DC-DC today, I got the pinout info:

There is a lot of discussion on the gen3 DC-DC, but in one of Damien's videos it's just a case putting 12v on the ignition and sense wires.
So I tried with HV (tried 60V and 310v) connected to the main DC bus, with Battery+12v on ignition, sense, and the output stud.

DC-DC did not come to life.

Has anyone got the DC-DC running on this yet?

chrskly wrote: Thu Sep 15, 2022 1:36 pm The L210 already has two motors in it. The bigger MG2 motor is officially rated at 105kw. But that's probably a conservative figure given that the L210's older brother, the L110, has been tested up to, I think, 350kw. And given the similarities between the two, the L210 can probably do a lot more than 105kw. So, unless you're building some crazy beast, adding another motor wouldn't give you anything extra. Plus, you'd need another inverter to run the 3rd motor.
Im guessing this mg1 and mg2 are the same motors as in gs450h, only diferent shape and design of total gearbox

Knew it would fit😊, on the original gearbox support and front plate with a small piece of floor cut out on each side and reorganised oil pump pickups , now where’s the welder….

Do you have a video or something showing the disassembling of this transmission?

No video, but I have a few pictures. There's nothing to it really. Just undo a handful of bolts.

Drain the oil. Plug is at the rear of the pan.

There are several bolts holding the front bell housing on. MG1 sits inside this section. Three of the bolts are in under the oil pan so you'll need to take that off.

Here's the front bell housing separated from the rest.

For the back, again, just undo the bolts.

How on earth did you get your hands on a set for so little money! here in Holland I'm looking at 3 times as much :(

hi, does something speak against using the L210 gearbox as if it were an L110?
I just want to ask before I buy :)

Maybe I shouldn't be the one answering this as I'm a beginner myself, so happy to stand corrected, but as I understand it:

"Pros" of using L210 instead of L110:
L210 is somewhat lighter and shorter, and mechanically simpler as it doesn't have two speeds.
L210's internal oil pump works when input shaft is locked, so it doesn't need an external pump and controller like the L110 does.

"Cons" of using L210 instead of L110:
There's a body of experience with installing and running the L110 in conversions; as far as I'm aware (mainly from this thread!), the L210 has only been shown working in a couple of bench tests, so it's less far along the learning curve.
Some have questioned whether the lack of two-speed shifting will bring performance challenges with using the L210, especially if it's driving a lower-geared differential than it's designed for.

Have had my L110 (or whatever the is300h one is) running and driving in my car up to ~30mph at the moment, haven’t been able to test higher speeds yet. (Will update when I do)

Anyone got the 210 running in a car yet? Is the lack of 2 speed gearing a problem? Does it put out similar power to the 110?

On the subject of gearing, there are many online calculators.

This is the one I use; https://www.boosttown.com/gearbox_diffe ... ulator.php

I'll add my spreadsheet which does it for you...
Things to note:
there is some debate as the ratio used by mg1
No one has any idea what sort of power is given out at the maximum mg2 rpm of 14000 @360v (based on top speed of is300h)

Can the code log/display the speed of MG1 and MG2?

If so it should be simple enough to just spin the box up to a steady speed and confirm the ratio between the two motors?

Found this and thought it might be interesting:
https://toyota-club.net/files/faq/20-02 ... wd_eng.htm

"The first Torsen center differential was installed on large Toyota SUVs in 2002, and the scheme we are considering firstly presented in 2006 for top Lexus series, but it became relatively mass only since the mid-2010s at Crown family models.

This type transfer box designation is "LF1A", it is combined with an 8- or 10-speed automatic transmissions (AA80F/AGA0F) or hybrid transmissions (L110F/L210F/L310F)."

Does anyone know the max rpm for the L210 gearbox? I'm struggling to find any hard facts on it.

If anyone in the UK is planning to try to get the connectors JB listed above, you will need to find a reg number for someone else's car and take it to the dealer. The one I dealt with today told me he couldn't find the parts without it (and was bloody rude too), in spite of having quoted me prices for them a few months ago. Unfortunately the same company owns all the dealerships within a 30 mile radius of where I live and no-one outside the US and Canada seems to be selling the parts online.

I'll just have to try one of the other branches - this time with a reg no grabbed off a car up on ebay.

Does anyone know the OEM Part number for the Rubber Flex Mount Coupling of Output Shaft of the L210 Gearbox? Or Could someone please take some quick Measurements?
The Wiki on the L210 seems to describe the Metal flange...
These Aftermarket types are available, and I am hoping one of them fits...
Thanks A lot.

The OEM one looks to be a little bigger. 115mm between opposite centres.

This video might be useful to you... IIRC, Artur (@arturk) made his own coupler and spaced the holes for the urethane bushings per each end. I believe that the bushings he specifically used aren't available, but I think you could find something to work if you were to have the coupling custom machined.

Thought i'd post here to see how any projects using this gearbox are currently going, as most have gone rather silent in the past few months.

I hope your projects are all going well!

@crskly you mentioned the l110 having been tested up to 350kw?! This seems an insane amount of power, especially from something rated at under 1/4 of that power. As the l210 uses the same motors do you believe it can also achieve this output, and if so is there a way to provide additional cooling to the transmission? As the oil pump is internal unlike the l110 so splicing in a heat exchanger is not an easy option. (i do not have access to a gearbox myself so am only going off of information i've gleaned from this forum and yt).

Would I be correct in assuming I can use a Prius Gen3 inverter with this transmission (via zombieverter) ?

Is there any disadvantage to using it over a specific gs300h inverter?
Is there any webpage of link where I can compare the spec of both?
The Prius gen 3 inverters seem to be a bit cheaper / more readily available.

Incorrect. The ZombieVerter only works with the original inverter. The Prius inverter doesn't know what to do with the Lexus transmission.
If you want to use the Prius inverter, you'd have to use two OpenInverter boards controlling both motors in the Lexus transmission. But nobody has done that so far and it doesn't make sense to try it, since the 300h inverters are easily and affordably available.

Not with the zombieverter but you can however run it with the Prius/Yaris brain board instead of the zombieverter as mentioned previously in this thread.

Shit ok, thanks.
way less hassle than to just source a gs300h inverter. For the sake of an additional €150 or whatever although I'm not finding any cheap available ones that will ship to Ireland

Side question; could I use an IS300h inverter instead of a gs300h inverter? Marginally different part numbers but everything looks identical
