EV Conversion Course (Introductory) - Online, 4->7 Dec 2020

Post by New Electric Ireland »

We're delighted to announce the first of our four day online electric vehicle conversion courses. This introductory course will be led by Damien Maguire ("Jack Bauer") and is intended to provide a solid grounding in electric vehicle conversion for the complete novice.

The course runs for four days over a 'long' weekend (Friday to Monday) and will be held online. We're using a professional online teaching tool which will allow you to fully participate in the process and record material for future reference.

The course cost is 1,000 euro per person. Spaces are limited and a 250 euro deposit is required to secure a place with the remaining 750 euro payable one month before the course commences.

Lots detail will follow but if you want a taster have a look at Damien's YouTube channel (here).

If you'd like to book a space please email your full name, address, phone number, and VAT details (if you're booking as a company) to sales@newelectric.ie :D

In the future we will be running two day courses on more advanced topics including CAN debug, Leaf VCU applications, Instrument clusters, BMS, etc. We'll be using a variety of presenters who have relevant expertise that they can share. We also have in the works a four day course on electric boats from our marine workshop in Amsterdam 8-)

As always, we're open to suggestions for courses and presenters... get in touch :)

Great news!

A few questions:

- Do you have a "table of contents" of what you are going to teach over the period?
- Since this is online, we won't be able to go hands on, unless we work with simulators and such. If that is the case what simulators are we going to use? Or how would we replace the hands on bits?
- What times would this run on ?

Thanks

We don't publish a "table of contents" because each course is different and Damien uses his current projects as the jumping off point. In December I suspect he will be focusing on the Toyota family Inverter/DCDC/Charger, Siemens/Lexus/Toyota/Nissan/Tesla drivetrains, CHAdeMO rapid charge, HV safety, and various OEM battery types.

You can get a flavour from the old course threads or ask previous participants. We will also upload some test video at some point.

The introductory course will not feature "hands on" tasks. It's more interactive lecture style. We will restrict the numbers so that everyone gets a chance to participate fully.

The advanced courses will have hands on tasks. For example, everyone on the CAN course will be using the same hardware/software tools and diagnosing the same hardware in the first instance.

The course will run from 9 til 5 every day with a 1 hour stop for lunch. It will be possible to watch the recorded video if you can't attend full time.
