Firmware in inverter and wifi module, not in sync

I have used firmware 4.12 in the inverter in my truck, and it works.
But now I try to help some friends with their truck, same firmware in inverter, But he got a newer olimex module.
And entered the parameters manually.
The firmware in inverter will not be upgraded via web. And some other problems......
Could the reason be that the firmware and spiffs files in the wifi module i to new? And the parameters will be wrong, because of the changes in the wifi firmware/spiffs?
