OEM i3 EME repair or replacement with openinverter

I have a 2014 i3 Rex whose EME died about 18 months ago. Dealer quote was $18K CAD to replace. I've torn it down and pulled the EME, and took it to the UK to see if could be rebuilt, no luck.

Just got on this forum from a recommendation from a friend. Wondering what it would take to have a new inverter to work with my i3. Most other systems seem functional still, it just won't drive. I'm an engineer that runs a tech business, and not afraid to tear things apart and rebuild them. Happy to share pictures if I figure out the image linking here.

I've bought an I3 from Copart only to find it has not got an EME inverter. I'm looking to purchase a replacement but realise the immobiliser function stops it working. Can anyone help me out here. Can I replace the control board with an open source or is there an alternative route.

My i3 is a BEV so the EME is not as easy to pick up to.

Any guidance would be much appreciated

Theres a few EME modules on ebay at the moment, what year is your i3? Is it a 60/94 or 120ah BEV?

Ive found there is a place in the UK called remmingtons, that can diagnose and repair the unit. http://www.remmington.info/bmw%20i3%20i8%20EME.html

It might be worth giving them a call to see if they have any 'spare' units? I think the EME has to be cleared and then re-programmed to suit the VIN of the car, they arent exchangeable between vehciles.
