Yeah; so everything is deemed relevant then.

Maybe the wording should be only quote the most relevant part.

Hi I'm pretty new here, from Vancouver Canada.
I'm working on converting a 40 foot semi planing yacht.
Boat was built with a pair of 185 hp 6cyl diesels.
I'll be replacing with a pair of Nissan leaf drive units and the open inverter board.

New and glad to be here. I'm marcius from Toronto Canada but living and working in Los Angeles, California. I work on clean energy and climate change, and also working on my first EV conversion. My goal is to have a safe and reliable daily driver in the end, to document the journey, and have a good time doing it (including the maddening times to come I'm sure).

Project: I'm working on a 1896 944 N/A conversion too

motor: Tesla S/X rear SDU, with open-inverter board. I was originally thinking Tesla Model 3 with controller from Ingenext, but I'm not sure it will fit because rear M3 drive unit sits in front of the axle, and I don't think I have clearance in the 944 transmission area for this.

battery: 16 x 22.2V VDA355 style battery modules, each 2.2 kWh and 2p6s, for a total pack of 2p96s, 355V, 35 kWh. I'm expecting a range of ballpark 50 - 100miles

battery pack cooling: aluminum cooling plates from Felten (formerly ZeroEV)

BMS: likely Orion 2 but TBD

Right now, I've secured battery modules, and now shopping for Tesla motor to start to control it on the bench. Also designing battery pack and battery box in paralle.

Basic geometry will be copying Electric Classic Cars conversion of a 944 S2: battery under the hood, motor between the rear wheels where transmission used to be, preserve interior cabin, aim for close to 50/50 weight distribution when done, back / front and left / right

Right now : have spent last few months researching battery modules, and making rough designs for battery pack, box, mounting, motor mounting, traction circuit, and welding / fabrivation needs (I don't know how to weld, will likely need professional help with all the fab). I'm starting to bench test a basic traction circuit. Ordered tesla SDU board, and new current sensors after struggling to desolder Tesla current sensor chips from the SDU board. Once Openinverter board and sensors arrive I'll get back to it.

I'm new here, im converting a 2008 Honda civic coupe with a front SDU running OI version8 board.
I m located on a small island in the caribbean, Curaçao, north of Venezuela. currently waiting for some mounting brackets to mount the SDU to the car.
Im probably gonna use a tesla gen 2 charger with the evbmw board. also looking into getting an orion 2 bms from greentecauto.

For batteries i found a good deal on some 6kwh samsung SDI li-ion on batteryhookup.com. 330$ for a 24s 6kWh x 4 for 96s gives you 1320$ for a total of 24kWh. does anyone have experience with them? it say they have a max output of 200A. i think that would be enough since im aiming for a daily driver. range is unknown but im hoping for 100-150km per charge.

any input/advice is welcome.

I am also new to this forum, I know bugger all about reprogramming stuff ... or even what half the anacronyms mean

I have recently purchased a MG4 insurance write off vehicle (means it can not be registered in Australia) at a salvage auction. My plan is to strip it out and convert my '74 VW Kombi to EV, battery pack and all, so I'm going to need lots of guidance along the way. When it arrives, I'll start a project thread.
