Using the inverter to generate household AC voltage

Post by skr »

Hi,

Looking at inverters built I quickly realized that most of them look sketchy in an environment exposed to constant vibration as well as the pricing skyrockets above a few kW of output power.

I thought of the idea of having say a prius inverter used in 50Hz 230ish Vac 3phase output mode with DC ground being the N connection connected to a 200ish Volt battery.
I could not find any prior art regarding this usage case. What do you think about this?
I tried counting coulombs once

Johannes has I thread somewhere doing just this with a Prius gen2 inverter, looks entirely possible but will need additional output filtering, also looks like efficiently wasn’t brilliant from a low voltage battery pack, but if you are thinking of building a high voltage solar system with a vehicle battery as storage it could be ideal….
