Anyone using Porsche Taycan modules on a conversion?

I am thinking of buying some for my car, but because of the bms they need to be cut with a grinder to access the individual cell voltages.

A small window may be a better alternative to cutting the complete side of the module.

What is your experience with these modules?

A compatible controller for the bms.

Yes; there is. We can balance, read cell voltages and temperature.
(Everything supported by LG).

This is just horrible to open, i understand why people just cut the complete side panel...

I am so confused why you are not using the CAN bus conversion module from EV_Builder?

This is opening a whole load of potential issues.

If there's a slave BMS module in there, you should 100% use it. This will be much more reliable and much safer than trying to wire in your own cell taps.

Unfortunately a lot of people do seem to discard OEM slave modules though, because they want to use Orion BMS for CCS system compatibility, but unless you have a very good reason, you're better off not cutting them open!

Why that, you can easily programme gateqays to do the connections. Then again this all depends on end installer experience and capability.

I know many projects where the SimpBMS has been used in conjuction with many other systems. A customer is using ID3 battery with Nissan Leaf powertrain/charger with a Resolve Controller, and with my gateway and BMW I3 CCS.

Why are you stuck with a Nissan Leaf BMS? People have swapped lead packs and added leaf packs to nissan leafs and all this info is public.

Are you using a full Nissan Leaf drivetrain in a new build or are you replacing a Nissan Leaf battery in a Leaf?

Full Nissan Leaf or with a Resolve controller?

Full Nissan Leaf, a complete car for parts so i'll be putting wiring, power steering, everything if i can.

If you are building a new car then why not ditch the OEM BMS?

Buy a CMC TPL with Blue BMS and OpenInverter Leaf motor controller.

Your bms is perfect for most applications but i don't think it's good for my specific case.

openinverter will not control the leaf charger.
ZombieVerter will work with your bms and leaf charger but no leaf power steering and power brakes.

And also i'm in Poortugal we don't really swim in money around here (it's ruled by communists and socialists) so i use what i have...

To spend an extra 350+conectors on zombieverter and 460 on bluebms there goes more than one month salary,
i could have bought e2008 modules for the same total price and those modules are easy to open.

I think a little slave board inside each module should work, and with fuses because Damien said so.
If i'm wrong at least i learn something.

Ok, but its possible the lead BMS complains about the increased size of the battery.

And soldering those wires to your ready made board is quite the act so to speak!

Nice board btw!

soldering is easy, desoldering was not a joke with the small window i almost destroyed the battery because the heat
travelled through the aluminium tape that i used to protect the cells.
That is why i had to cut the complete side and it was very easy.
The board is just a little easyeda pin to pin conection, let's hope it fits.

these 6s modules are also available without internal CMU's, why not use those... (for example in VW e-up)

haven't seen any for sale, it's really about availability.
Could have bought a complete peugeot 2008 pack but it would have cost me an extra 1000e.

I think www.ecaraccu.nl still might have some unused 6s from e-up...
