450h availability Ireland

Post by philbrennan »

in the interests of not hassling one of the main folks directly, can anyone give some tips on hunting for 450h in Ireland?
I'm a bit dubious on what price scrapyards will ask.
If anyone has inverter + gearbox I have cash waiting.
Thanks

I'd avoid the scrapyards these days. Most will want over a grand just for a stripped down gearbox. I'd keep an eye on adverts.ie and donedeal.ie for a private individual breaking a car. Thats where I got mine recently. I got my inverter from this guy so box and pump controller etc should be still there :

Few people will want to remove the box themselves so you may be able to negotiate a discount and remove yourself.

Also get the loom, wiring plugs etc as this will save you a ton of hunting around and waiting for bits.

Thanks for the replies. Yep as I thought. I try to avoid scrapyards where possible
And thanks for the line on that, I will give them a shout.
I've watched 2 of your zombieverter videos so far, got the memo on the plugs alright.
Cheers. Order going in for zombieverter today.

order is in. and ill be picking up the box and associated gubbins next week. Im sure ill pickup inverter before too long, but my next concern is battery pack. For bench testing ill figure something out, but beyond that.. I'll go and look at some more videos about the grey goose and bexus later. from my reading so far the leaf pack seems relatively heavy.
