Single use vape devices have Lithium cells in them

Post by janosch »

Read this yesterday, and while the cells aren't big enough to be used in cars, they might be worth picking up for other DIY projects:

I am not that much of an eco warrior, but it is unclear to me how people who design devices like that sleep at night.
Such a waste of lithium, but at least this guy is picking them up and recycling them for his projects.

I briefly worked in a pub last year due to bat flu and we would literally throw away dozens of these every Friday/sat night! (It annoyed me but needed money so didn't want to put head above the parapet).. Offer some of the barstaff a beer and you might be able to get yourself a shopping bag worth in a few weeks.
Rule 1 of EV Club is don't buy a rust bucket....
Which rule does everyone forget 🤪

Be VERY careful. The cells (generally) used in these are QC failures - cells which have some capacity, but may not be able to be charged successfully. The Vape manufacturers get these cheap for obvious reasons, and are 'fine' in that use as they'll not be recharged by design.

Yes, they really should be recycled at the very least...
