I have installed zafira ps pump and it is indeed a noisy one but doing its job.
Has anyone found any K-bus decoding or other manner to control its speed. I presume, running it in fail safe mode long, will kill the unit.
All tips welcomed. Thanks.

I know it's the weapon choice for a lot of home brew ev conversion builds and so far, I have not heard of any failures. I have one in mine. We have two in our work prototype vehicles (with 10k collective miles). I know Damien must have well over 150k km between the Land Yacht, Grey Goose and others, all with no failures in the 'dumb' mode. I had a chat with a steering and brake specialist who has worked with the OEM's and tier 1's and he saw no issue with them being run for prolonged periods in this way, provided it doesn't run dry. One thing to remember also is that it is self regulating. On start up, it spools to high RPM and then when it reaches a constant flow rate, it drops off until steering input is...err.. inputted

With regard to the K-bus, it was brought to the table very early in the history of CAN and single wire CAN coms and kind of hung around like a bad smell by TRW and others but you can find others that have CAN fitted to Audi's and Merc's from the mid to late noughties. The TRW is just used as it works, no matter what, straight out of the box by twisting the 'Ign' black wire and 'alternator-on' Blue and White wire twisted together.

I don't think that the K-Bus from the TRW power steering pump can be used to control it, because in the Opel Astra (which is where I got the schematic from), it's only connected to the OBD-II port. I've put some information in the wiki:
https://openinverter.org/wiki/Opel_Power_Steering_Pump

If you have an OBD-II tool that works with Opels, you could try to access it.

It's not actually running in a fail safe mode when you follow the correct power up sequence. If it starts up very slowly, that's possibly the fail safe mode.

Thanks for the encouragement. Then I just let it run. And I do agree, that is great and probably the only real plug and play part in conversion. It just works.

I've been running the newer CAN controlled Zafira pump with some random message that happned to make it activate, presumably in some sort of defaut mode, for more than 60 000 km so far. No issues at all.

I have Volvo pump, seems exactly same as wiki page mentioned above. I start it with 12v control wire and just recently found this CANbus information:
https://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=45444#p45444
I have not yet test speed control, just quickly checked that pump does send 0x1B200002 alive signal.

The Opel pump doesn't have a CAN interface, so they're not identical. But it would certainly deserve a wiki page, especially considering it's so well documented.
