Nissan Leaf 24kWh LBC Re-programming for LiFEPO4 Cells

Post by mirzad »

Hi Guys!

Just joined this forum and admin thank for letting me in!

I am Mirza from Sri Lanka and own a 2014 JDM Nissan Leaf. Currently my HV battery is down to just 2 bars capacity. Was wondering if the Leaf LBC could be re-programed to work with LiFePO4 nominal voltage 3.2V max 3.65V and min 2.5V, also need to know if the 24kWh LBC would work with 40kWh battery cells.

Would very much apricate any support and suggestions as to work on this idea.

Depends on what you consider "works"
It will measure the cell voltages just fine but that's about it. The SoC correction will be rubbish because the voltage curve doesn't match and the power limits will be equally unusable. So it certainly won't be much fun when used in an original Leaf.

A guy called Wolftronix unsoldered the processor chip and replaced it with his own. Sounds risky but after lots of development it should sort of work.
