Determining sin cos windings of resolver

Post by slociviccoupe »

Is there a straight forward way to figure out the sin cos windings of a resolver? I have the factory electronic diagnostic manual for the honda accord hybrid ima. I know the resolver excite wires and know what wires are a pair for the sensors Just dont know how to find out which pair is sin and which other pair is cos. The manual doesnt list them as sin or cosin.

And just for knowledge does a resolver work similar to a vr sensor? The exciter wires/coils make magnetic field and the sin/cos windings pick up when the trigger ring of the rotor passes it.

Could these bo found by using an led and rotating the rotor.
I am using the ima motor as it would be used in a honda hybrid atatched to the crankshaft. Just using an open inverter to control the honda igbt. Or a prius gen 3 inverter if im limited by the honda components. Just need help on how to determine sin or cos of a resolver without the trial and error method.

Just connect it either way. Then, if the motor doesn't spin either swap it or set the according pinswap bit to swap it in software.

Since its ac voltage ? Does polarity matter Like the way it does in a vr sensor or is there a polarity.

You have 4 combinations for two pairs of sin/cos windings and determining the correct connection.
for example: 1-2 _3-4; 1-2 _4-3; 2-1 _3-4; 2-1 _4-3.
The connection of the signal windings of the generator has no polarity, the winding has the lowest resistance of ohms.
