Has anyone got the Samsung bms working for the rangerover packs?

They are 12s 37Ah and there are 9 of them.

They look a lot like the VW modules, got an canbus capture of the internal bus?

I am not sure if the bus to the modules is can bus, the lines from the controller seem to be isolated using some transformers. You can see them on the bottom left of the square pcb photo. There is also no can transceiver chip on the individual bms boards that I can see.

I will have to get a scope out and try to see what is going on.

The top board you got the chip used?
From the picture I can't make it up with the glare...

The Samsung SDI BMU panel has the MAX17841 driver chip, while the Jaguar / Range Rover battery has the MAX17823B BMS chip. In principle, they can talk to each other - but of course the factory software is not suitable for this.

OK thanks for that. Pity they didn't just stick to can bus.

Found this - viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1179

Now I am happy.

Thanks again for the info, because of the conformal coating on the chips it is almost impossible to read the text so you helped alot.

Hi there,
I have managed to get comms with these using Bexander's Arduino firmware which I modified to suit the 12cell pack. I haven't looked at balancing yet but know the pin outs, got the setup sorted and receiving all cell voltages.

Happy to share info if anyone needs it.

Please do share. A wiki page would be fantastic.

Hi,
It appears uncertain whether the bus connecting to the modules is a CAN bus, as there are transformers isolating the lines from the controller, visible at the bottom left of the square PCB photo. Furthermore, I couldn't identify a CAN transceiver chip on the individual BMS boards.free fire name

What year is this pack from?
Does anybody have some insights on what modules-cells are used in the new
JLR RANGE ROVER SPORT cars?

JLR has been with LG CHEM for a while, but in your post i see Samsung SDI being used, so wondering.
Here are the battery specs, but interested in module-level info. I've read online that they are now on the MLA platform and packs could have Hyundai/Kia/Volt-Bolt type of LGCHEM modules (Polymer casing) rather than F-Pace type modules(Alu casing).

Dimensions of the batteries: 165cm X 76cm
Weight per battery: 280KG
Max working current 570A
Nom Voltage: 398.2
Nom capacity: 96 Ah
Rated voltage: 400
Rated capacity 75 Ah - 38kWh

Thank you if anything comes up.

It's maxim serial bus; If you want / need a BMS contact me.
It's currently not yet added but i could do that if we know the exact chip on the PCB.

Jaguar I Pace has LG Chem but hybrid cars like F pace and Range Rover works on Samsung SDI.
