Cut and shut driveshafts

Custom driveshafts are something that many conversions are going to need.
Many people seem to think that cut and shut shafts are automatically doomed to fail, but perhaps this link to a video of shafts being made for an Autotest car will persuade a few people. Autotesting is very hard on driveshafts and often causes OEM shafts to fail.
The techniques demontrated are quite crude. If the shafts were spigoted and chamfered in a lathe and the weld performed in a rotary positioner, the results would be even more robust.
